Finished my month 2. I chose to do reverse appliqué on the hearts and the leaf things around the circle. Just ignore the flying geese.lol.another project.

Hand appliqué needle turn. Don’t mind the pencil marks. I cut the squares larger, I thought I centered the pattern, but with the “leaves” they were not perfect from pattern each blocks was a bit different. I started with the center circle and did a small circle on top. Then I started with the center circle, but found that leaves were extending past the marked area. So I ended up doing the leaves first, the centering the circle and then finally the small circles. Then I centered the block prior to cutting at 5.5”.
I am going with a southwest theme. I am looking at the next appliqué blocks and will plan on doing a different Southwest theme, landscape ideas on the landscape blocks (ones more horizontal) and Southwest items for the portrait blocks ( vertical). I guess I am currently thinking a one way quilt but that could change when we put all the blocks together.

yes I found it difficult to line up all those leaves accurately too. though once the small circles went on it disguised it all a bit, very pretty block

I also decided to use stacked circles in the center. I found some of the circle templates from last year’s BOM, Pick a Pedal, were the perfect size

Here's my progress so far. First tried a block each of needle turn applique, then a block of wool raw edge applique. Liked the wool better, but in showing the blocks to people realized that I could vary the fabrics in the needleturn one also, so I'll add in a few of those too. Enjoying seeing how creative everyone is.

12 Blocks done. I used the Terial Magic, really not sure I was happy with it as it made the fabric very stiff and difficult to stitch through but its done now and its a pretty block, oh those circles.....

Finished my alternate blocks for the 2nd month. I used the circle idea and then inserted a heart too. Raw Edge applique, with decorative stitch.

I didn’t like my checked background with the fabric I wanted to use. And I have a new machine so wanted to try out the blanket stitch. I am very happy with how it turned out.

Months 1 & 2 done! I decided to try some EPP for month 2, it's not perfect, but that is what makes this a learning experience.

Excellent way to make this quilt your own. Great choice for an alternative block.

Your grandmothers flower garden blocks are darling. I think I might have put a darker background on
the right one to make the cute flower easier to see. Love you pink palette. HelenW

Since I have an embroidery machine, I decided to make blocks from patterns I already have. I added hearts and diamonds which I will alternate to make it less heavy looking

Finished all 12 blocks for February and it was great fun! I used Alex Anderson's method of applique with Print & Piece Fuse Light and machine stitching with invisible thread. Don't love the middle circle, but I'm not changing it!

I used wool for dots and hearts. The flexi fuse worked great.
