I am very impressed with the marking technique. Thanks for the detailed pictures and explanation. Was the fabric starched or unstarced and would that make a difference either way? Thanks again. The quilting looks great. I am loving that quilt. The colors are beautiful and the design is very nice.

After this traditionally on the larger scale there would be rosettes etc in the squareish sections and lines of echo quilting in the triangle sections. I am sorting out my own variations for what to fill in yet.
N.B. This design was originally developed from the base of the old flat irons put back to back to create the 'ovaloid' shape.

Lois, you must have missed the 'Great starching & basting' saga a couple of pages back. Currently it is unstarched, however the cotton in a firm, densely woven one. I am not sure that it would make a lot of difference and feel sure that it would work equally well on starched fabrics too.Originally posted by loise98I am very impressed with the marking technique. Rosemary, I just went back and read forward on your postings regarding all the different designs you marked and executed for this quilt. You deserve a TQS classroom for this! I learned a lot and am really tempted to transfer your postings on this thread into a OneNote notebook for reference. Truly, my compliments to you on such great and inspiring labor of love!

Since that would be a darned sight easier for you to find again, rather than trying to remember which page(s) in which thread the information is hiding, I would say go for it. 8)Originally posted by RenataRosemary, I just went back and read forward on your postings regarding all the different designs you marked and executed for this quilt. As a little aside, I think that I am becoming enamoured with the Weardale Chain, because it isn't feathers which seem to be everywhere these days, and the fact that you don't need to be proficient at fmq to do it

Just back from a short holiday. Trying trying trying to catch up on all the new pages.
Rosemary...this may seem a silly question, but my teacher said there were no silly questions. Besides I am a teacher and tell my students the same thing. Although they have tried really hard..
For the stitching of the quilt, are you doing FMQ, for example on the chain design, or do you use a walking foot?
