Good idea I'll set myself a target to get my Tree of Life quilt finished by then, and if I'm done before I may finish another project

Idaho and Rosemary do you realise, if you do it 1/2 scale you'll be making a 3" sawtooth block. I hope you're up to it, I'll lend you my glasses

And this is a problem how? With a good friend (who is a biologist for a day job) who works in miniature, I've been fighting the 'working small' madness for several years, at least I am not proposing 1/12 scale  ....or am I.............

Who knows (shrugs) make them full size and not need any wadding

Actually I've only just gone to have a look at what I've let myself in for - Looks pretty neat to me, I like the fact that the blocks are repeated several times instead of all being different, that way you get to practise & refine you technique for each block, and the finished quilt has a nice symmatry to it (I like symmatry even if I cannot spell it  )

Yes, just what does one do about "wadding" aka "batting" in miniature quilts? I would think that would become a real issue in some.

I use full size seams and grade them if needed..batting...very lite ...sometimes split thickness and I have used fluffy flannel.

Half scale shouldn't be that hard. I would say quarter scale would be though. You would need a measurement that was divisible by 3, 4, and 6. Half scale is 3" blocks with the smallest unit 1/2" and quarter scale is 1-1/2" blocks with the smallest unit 1/4". If I had time I would do the quarter scale for a donation quilt. Maybe one of you will be brave enough to try. Of course I would probably paper piece some of the blocks if they were that small.

Definately but that would lose the point of the exercise.

I have made a miniature quilt with 1" Lily( or could be tulip blocks) made with silk as a challenge for our guild's 25th anniversary. I'm looking at it now and can't believe I did it that small. A lot of miniatures are a lot smaller though.
