I've been busy printing on three different printers that I have at home. I've prepared some white and tea dyed cotton fabric using the BJS and rinse and experimented with Printed Treasures. I had difficulty getting the paper backing off the Printed Treasures. I had to soak and scrap the paper off for the quilt I did. The fabric I prepared worked fine in all the printers I tried. The two Epson and one HP deskjets both experienced some jamming but I did not want to give up. I found that I really use a lot of ink too. I really prefer the Epson for color. I've used Elements Ver 7 and am contemplating upgrading to the new version. Any suggestions on if I should or not? I find that I really like the possibilities. My latest project was taking a large poster that I had, I cut it into nine blocks like a nine patch), color copy each patch (enlarge 115%) onto fabric and then sew the nine patches together to make a large fabric panel. What fun!

Gail, I think that if the paper backing is that difficult to get off, you have a bad batch of Printed Treasures and should contact the company for a replacement. (I don't know if they actually will replace it, but I would certainly try! There is no excuse for having to soak and scrape the paper off, IMHO.)
As far as whether to upgrade Photoshop Elements... Adobe comes out with updates once a year around the September. I personally like to update every other year (unless I'm taping videos and need the latest and greatest. If I were you, I'd wait until version 9 is announced and then upgrade to that.
Any chance you could upload your fabric panel to the Printing on Fabric class gallery? (learn/classrooms/) I'd love to see it!__________________________________________________

The picture of the 9 pages that I printed for the fabric panel was submitted to the 'printing on fabrics gallery'. I have a picture somewhere of the finished quilt that I'll try to submit tomorrow. I seamed/assembled the blocks into the center fabric panel, added a green border, then added pieced nine-patch blocks set on-point and another wider brick red border. BTW, it took awhile to track down the artist and then after emailing for a time, was given permission to print on fabric and to make this quilt for my personal use. Thanks Laura Y. I need to find some copy write free art work that I can use, since I was not gifted with any talent to paint or draw. And my photos are not all that good either....

It's a beautiful image Gail! I can see why you wanted to use it. The artist was very generous.Great job figuring out how to poster print!

Jenny, I did a quick video tutorial a few years ago showing how to to this in Photoshop Elements 4. It should still be the same for later versions. http://www.kaleidoscopecollections.c.../poster-print/ Hope this helps.

Jenny, what perfect timing for that question! I have an idea for a personal challenge to enlarge a photo, print it out and make a quilt, but couldn't figure out now to print the parts. Thank you, Jeanie, for sharing your tutorial!__________________________________________________

I just used Jeanie's printing suggestions on a quilt top (not yet finished.) My daughter went to Uganda last month and bought several pieces of African fabric at local markets. I took two of the most graphic and cut them up to make a rail fence design, using black fabric of my own and printing some of my favorites of the many pictures she took, to fill in from place to place.
This will still get a 3 inch border out of a tiny zebra stripe fabric and then I'll have to figure out how I'm going to quilt it! It will end up about 60" wide and 72" long.Jenny in Oz
