Carole, Great job. Did you adjust the color of the cat in the lower right corner? Fun!

All right, I detect a theme. Cats & Dogs, what's next? Love the pillow Carole!

Thanks, Margo. Yes, Gray Soufflé gives her all to each and every quilt. Strands of her fur are sewn into many of the seams! She pre-tests all the batting and the backing. She examines the quilting while I'm doing it at the machine, sitting ON the quilt during the process!

Capt'n John, that bottom right photo IS adjusted, even though it's still dark. The cat and the fake fur throw are much the same in value, even though the fake fur is brown and the cat is gray. I "upped" the brightness as well as the contrast a good bit, but even so, it probably wasn't the best choice for a picture. However, it's one of my favorites since she spends SO MUCH TIME in that chair and in that position!!

AWESOME job Carole! DH is always asking me why I haven't made any quilts with photos of our cats. After seeing your pillow, I know I have to do one.

Thanks, Jeanie! This cat is actually the "person in charge" in this house. I'm only here to see that she gets fed, has warm places to sleep, and has access to her sheltered backyard when she needs it. So, of course, she'd have to be the subject of this pillow!

Any ideas on getting a cheap Epson printer that uses durabrite ink. I just bought a HP printer before your lessons came on. I don't have money for another printer right now. What to do?

Edna, You can use your HP for printing on fabric - lots of people do! (I just mentioned the Epson DuraBrite ink because I'm always asked (at shows) what printer I use.) With the HP, just make sure you set the ink before you get it anywhere near water. I say this from experience since I have dripped water on sheets that were not yet set and ruined them because water marks appeared. Also with the HP, you'll want to protect the print from bright light since the images won't be as lightfast as pigment inks are.

Edna, the cat pillow I made (pictured in this same thread earlier) was done on an HP Deskjet with dye based inks. I've used that same printer to do some photo wall hangings that have been on the wall for several years (but not in direct sunlight, of course) and the colors still look fine.

                        Jeanie,
The lessons were great and very timely for me as I am just at the stage in my new quilt where I need to print out some photos. My problem being that I have Photoshop CS4 and when I got to the stage of choosing the paper settings there seemed to be dozens of options and none mentioned the word matt. Please HELP.
                        Thanks, Anne-Marie

Anne-Marie, The paper settings are based on the printer driver - not Photoshop. What kind of printer do you have? If you list the choices you're given, I might be able to help you choose one. (You don't need to list any choices with the words "glossy" or "luster", since those are obviously not matte.)

Here's my latest project with printing on fabric. I found the photo of the car, printed it out, cut it out, thread painted it and collaged it onto the other fabrics. I pieced the surfboard and the dog is a magnet.
