A week today. As you say it cannot get too bacchanalian , being the beginning of the week, but we could certainly go for a good blow-out meal - ie an Indian meal (but skip the rice, naan & poppadoms) or something like prawn cocktail, a good steak with veggies followed by berries & cream (for me, DH has a problem with dairy - it stops him losing weight) or extra dark chocolate. with red wine to wash it down with......
Because I am following The Harcombe Diet, which states 'Stop Counting Calories and Start Losing Weight' the 'rules' for Phase 2, which is for weight loss, are 1) Don't eat processed foods; 2) Don't eat fats and carbohydrates at the same meal; 3) Don't eat foods that cause your cravings. Once I get to the weight my body wants to be, then I will be able go to Phase 3, which is mixing occasionally (not too much or too often) and that should see me fine when it comes to keeping it off, because I am/have not been depriving my body of quantity or quality of food, but working with it. Zoe Harcombe, who joined up all the dots as to the whys and hows of weight gain/loss has been at a stable weight for over 15 years. (and for those in the UK, no she doen't eat Tesco's burgers  for those not in the UK, there has just been a scandel hit the headlines that Tesco's & some other places have been selling beefburgers that contain horsemeat, the jokes have been coming out nicely  )

And Wendy, you don't have to be large to feel cramped on an airplane seat (especially if it's a Ryanair flight. ) If they put the seats any closer together we may as well unscrew our legs and send them in the cargo and then sit on the lap of the person next to us.
Rosemary, hbty, hbty, hbdR, hbty!
Well done! to those who have lost weight.
Take heart! to those who are struggling...you can do it!!
And to those dealing with illness, I pray that you will be well!

Just found a link to an interesting article http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisf...ion-scientists actually looking at the photo that accompanies it gives cause to stop and think, how many of those colours, if they were naturally occuring on your food, would you think safe to eat?
another link http://www.eatdrinkpolitics.com/wp-c...hip_Report.pdf is about the american 'Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' and looks like a big read (51pages) and is especially for those who like horror stories

Thanks for sharing Rosemary. Good information. Although makes you wonder... First fat was really bad, then carbs were the culprit, now sugar is the evil one. What'll be next? I guess it all boils down to foods as natural as possible and moderation.
Originally posted by RenataRoseanne, welcome back--good to see you again! Rosemary, I opened up the first URL you provided, looked at the photo and the colors just made me think about quilt color combinations...

Phantastic, Rosemary!! That is absolutely brilliant!! You are less than half my present weight. Fortunately I'm taller than you. :P
I guess you and I are doing a "The Harcombe Diet" versus "Slimming World". Can't wait to meet up again sometime this year! From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

The thing is 'follow the money', who is paying whom for the 'research papers?', which doctors are being sponsered by which companies, even the World Health Organisation has been 'nobbled' by the Sugar Lobby in past years, and quite frankly the Sugar Lobby is in the same cart as the Tobacco Lobby, just a few decades further down the line.
Next time you pick up any processed foods, have a read of the labels - if you cannot pronounce the ingredients, it probably isn't good for you. If any of the ingredients end in an 'ose' then that is a sugar, and there is a surprising amount of sugar in savoury processed foods, and especially in the 'low fat' versions of nearly anything (plain yoghurt & plain cottage cheese excepted), why would you want sugar in your cheese? From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood
