Becky, you can do it! I detest most exercise passionately, and was last seen 'hopping about' when my grown-up sons were little and I was trying to be 'super mum'.

You have to seriously change/alter what you eat and in what combination. The regime I follow has few rules. Here are the most important ones: Always have at least 1/3 of raw or cooked vegetables with every meal, cut off all visible fat from meats, avoid processed foods because of all the fats and sugars that you can't see, drink plebnty of water. I decided to try the 'Slimming World' system because it allows me to eat plenty, so my energy does not drop - very important in my job.

you are right lochem, what is frustrating is that i do eat very healthy, but i discover that i eat a lot of fat hidden fat like in yogurt etc.
i dont eat processed food at all - only veg - unlimited, protein (each separated) and oil 3 tbls a day. but after i was so happy with 9 kg off, i got the Quievain and the carpal tunnel attack so i got cortizon i think you call it and i gained with out any effort 4 kg, so sad, very sad. i am almost sure it is fluid. but it doest make me happy. i just bought paul mckenna book lets see if he can help i hope so he was very convincing on the one show few nights ago.

Mmmmmmmhhhhh, sounds like your needs are quite specific. Medication can play havoc with the way your body behaves. What does the doctor say?

well...the doctors at the beginning thought or were convinced that i eat all the time, when they saw that they were wrong, they try different diets the last one that is the only one that is successful is sugar and gluten free.
i am very happy that i lost some weight, let alone 9 kg!! it is a dream after i gained 40!kg with in 3 months. (after few body parts removed i.e breast, ovary etc. due cancer) -hormones change etc. makes my body completely loony!
but now i hope my body is on the right way (hope so much)
will up date you all soon
          cheers

Don't get despair Becky! You're doing the right thing, even if your body doesn't show it yet. Cortisone will definitely make you gain weight Is there any alternative anti-inflammatory you can take? Hormonal issues will also contribute to weight gain. I'll keep sending healthy and slimming thoughts your way.

Yes, Becky. I've been on cortisone for over a year - almost two - and don't recognize myself anymore. The weight gain is sure discouraging. Besides, I think it actually increases your appetite. I can't eat veggies and all those ' crunchy 'foods that help a gal to lose weight, have to be on a low fibre diet, so I'm proud of myself for losing 4 pounds since Christmas. It's a big deal - those 4 pounds. I have tried to manage my portions - that's all I can do.

Congratulations on that 4lb loss - or as we might think of it here that is 2 bags of sugar, which is definitely to be avoided.

Terri and Becky, you are both doing soooooooo well. If the weight goes down slowly it's much more likely to stay off. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

It's interesting that Becky mentions 'gluten free'. I come across more and more people who have a gluten intolerance, and even though I'm not amongst them, I have cut out most bread. I just treat myself to an occasional crispbread (Ryvita). With a little cheese (Brie or Havarti) on top, it makes this girl very happy.

yes, at the beginning i was sooo diprest about it, after that i had the period of dont care any more
but now i am on track and i know that i do my best, so now it is the body turn to respond.
i dont weight my self every day, only once a week
gluten free it sounds much complicated then it is - i must admit i really dont miss any thing
of course i would like to have some cakes etc, but i know the price so id rather not
well, it is still january, so happy weight loss and healthy year every body!

This is SUCH great news to share! I too, have experienced those dratted chairs that my tush won't fit into. I told myself just today, that I'd better get to work on my weight, or soon I'll be forced to stand in certain waiting rooms! So, WTG and big congrats to you!!

Terrie 4lb is a very good amount to lose. Congratulations! I think of it as pounds of butter. So I know I have to get rid of 2 packets from each of my thighs, two from around my middle and one from each of my upper arms. Then I will be happy. But it's easier to say it than to actually do it.

Thanks to all for you kind encouragement. I only wish, Rita that I could re-distribute the butter, from my hips to the place that doesn't have a cleavage, but I wish it did! One pound each side would be nice 8)
