    July 2016 LaVeta Retreat

I'm going to Ricky's retreat at the end of July. :silly: Is anyone else reading this going?
I'm going by myself and admit I'm a little nervous. My son and grandkids are driving
out with me, I'm from Austin TX, and then leaving me and going to tour CO.
I haven't ever been to a retreat and I can't wait. If you're going or
have been, I'd love to get some feedback on what to expect and if anyone is
going from this area. Thanks! Charlotte

Charlotte, have a wonderful time. Hey you can contact Hannelore Nunn; she went May 2015 with a group all from UK. I believe her name here is Lorchen, but she will give her honest opinion; but I am pretty sure she loved it.

Lorchen, When you are on line, I would love to hear about your experiences at last years retreat in La Veta. I'm going at the end of July and am excited and nervous too especially since I'm going Sharon, suggested that I contact you. I appreciate any advise of information you can give me. Thanks so much.

I just let Lorchan know about your request for info about LaVeta, Charlotte, and got the message back, that having been to Norway, she is currently in the Shetland Isles and won't be back home till beginning of next week. And she will be too busy to get to this forum, because she finds it very slow to navigate & post to. However if you message her direct she is happy to respond to your queriesand will keep a look out for your message.

And for all Lorchan's friends, she has had a great time thus far, collecting sightings of light houses, viewing trolls, and visiting distilleries....

Thank you so much for contacting Lorchan for me! It sounds like she is having a wonderful trip. I will send her a message but how do I message her directly ?
            Thanks for the help.

              Oh how I miss Lorchen!

Charlotte, go to the find a member tab on this site, plug in Lorchen's name and you can find her page. There is a tab that says message and there you go.

Enjoy your retreat. I've heard nothing but wonderful things about Ricky's retreats.

I went to the La Veta rereat a few years ago (maybe 5?) Had a great time! There were 7 of us, each had our own table and design wall space.
Food was beyond fabulous, I don't know if they have the same arrangements as when I went. Ricky spent some time each morning on something inspirational for the group, and then we worked on whatever our project was. Ricky was always there, available for consultation. The group worked on very different things, I remember. After dinner, we were able to use the retreat center and work, which many of us did. We have some daytime field trips out and about La Veta. Oh, and the tourist train stopped in La Veta once a day and people would walk down the street and come in!! It was fun to talk with them. And I did see a bear one morning, just outside of town.
The whole experience was at once intense and laid back- no pressures to put out product, but opportunity to dig deep and try things out. Have fun! Kathy

Charlotte, I will message Lorchen on Facebook to contact you here. I forgot she is on her wonderful trip. But from many members who have attended, you will certainly get your moneys worth.

Charlotte, I just heard back from Lorchen, which was quick. She returns from her trip on Sunday and will be in touch with you next week. She did say she still is in contact with the lovely people from a year ago and you will have a great time learning and doing.

                      Hugs, Sharon

                        Thank Sharon,
I'm sure that Lorchen will need some recovery time from that trip she's on. I certainly am not in a big hurry. I have a month to go.
I just bought a new sewing machine so I wouldn't have to take my heavy weight. Now I have to practice and be sure how to work everything :-) At least they are both Elna and both work pretty much the same!
Thanks again for connecting me with Lorchen.
Hope it's cooler there than it is here. We're hitting 99 so we'll be a triple digits in a few days. Ugh.
                        Take care.

                          Hi Kathy,
I'm so happy to hear about your trip to LaVeta. It sounds like you had a lot of fun. I am looking forward to going.
Hope you are having a good summer. We're dying from the heat already but hopefully Co. will be cooler :-)
Thanks so much for writing me.

Charlotte, I'm not trying to pop your weather bubble, but LaVeta is in southern Colorado, slightly in the mountains, so it can and does get HOT down there too. Bring layers for going into the mountains, etc. I live north of LaVeta about 4 hours out on the plains.

Well one can dream  I knew it wouldn't be cold but I was hoping a little lower than 97-100. :-(
I'll feel right at home and thanks for bursting my bubble. Hehehe
