Here is one photo from Paducah. Connie (gynconnie) treated us to lunch at the Episcopal Church. You can see the dogwoods, which were blooming all over Paducah. Connie, Ann, and Susan (suehenyon):

Hey Rita if you enter your spool quilt next year maybe you would have a great reason to go to Paducah to see it hanging there!

Honestly Karen I don't think they would accept it in. Too many small errors. But if I can do better with my red and white one......hmmmm...it might give me a reason (justification  ) to make the trip.

Well from here it sure looks magnificent and the result of a LOT of time and beautiful work.
I was wondering if there was a reason you chose not to quilt it with your Horizon?

My Horizon was in the repair shop. I could not get it to work in the D1S mode with the single hole needle plate. It turns out that that is one fussy item that can be knocked out of whack very easily. I won't be using the single hole from now on. It's back in action again so I hope (fingers crossed) that I don't have any more trouble with it so that I can get on with the red and white quilt.

Why doesn't Janome offer a plate with single hole that we could change altogether- it's convenient to see that little thing adjust by itself, but it's so fragile! On my 9900, there is a different plate for single-hole, and the machine "knows" which one is on...

Oh that's good to know. I don't use the single hole thing much but now I'll take care when I do!

My problem was I was trying to do it by the book and use it correctly. I think it's a design fault so my suggestion is not to use it at all. I agree with you Andrée they should have a separate plate for single hole work just like the other machines do. Somebody in Janome thought they had a good idea....but it's not! I think sewing machines have become like mobile phones - they try to do too much and the result is they are not very good at most things. All we quilters really need is a machine with a decent harp space, needle up-down, blanket stitch, zig zag stitch, a knee lift, threader and thread snips (maybe not even thread snips). All the other stuff is just icing on the cake. When I am king of the world......
