Janet, your quilts get prettier each one you make! Thank you for showing us this winner. I will be watching for your AQS entry at the Paducah show. Love your quilts. You are a very talented quilter. Do you have any at MQS this year? I am able to go to both shows this year, and I am planning on going to Des Moines in the fall. I dream of going to Houston, but don't see that in my future. I have not entered any quilts in the shows. I just go as a learner and a drooler.

Thanks, Cathy! And thank you ALL for such nice comments! I won't have a quilt at MQS this year, but will surely enter one in Des Moines. I'm planning on entering 2 in Houston, and have 3 entered at HMQS in Salt Lake City. You should definitely fufill that dream to Houston. It's like quilt show Candyland!!

Okay Mary, I have a lot of photos from the show. How do I get them to you or on TQS after I get them organized.

Janet, seeing your quilt up close is being in Candyland in front of my computer. May I ask how those round circles with the pink flowers in the middle are done? If you don't have time to answer, I understand, but this takes my breathe away. Thanks for the close-ups.

Thanks, Susan! Those circles are just a fabric that I fussy cut. Originally, I was going to do a penny circle (like the half penny circle detail on the top) but it seemed to fight with the blocks. I just happened to find that fabric with the circles on it at a local fabric recycle store. I bought it because the backgorund of the fabric was yellow, and my first drawing of this quilt had a sun at the top, and I was collecting yellow fabrics. Well, needless to say, the sun didn't pan out either, but the circles on that fabric I bought were perfect for the sashing intersections! They were raw edge appliqued, and a black rhinestud was attached to the center.

I'm always amazed at the journey my quilts take, from drawing to finished product. They rarely come out the way I first envision them!

Janet, can you clarify what a "fabric recycle store" is?

It's a store called Fabric Recycles. They carry everything related to textile crafts, and they have a great selection of quilt fabrics at reduced prices. The gal that owns the shop buys from estate sales and individuals, but nearly everything was previously owned or gently used. It's like a thrift store that specializes in fabrics. I like to go there when I am wanting small quantities of fabrics, because they have lots of smaller pieces, and they are all neatly arranged by color. I think it's a great idea for a store, and I wish I would have thought of it!
