Hi Wendy,
I love the malvern show but it's a long way from Woking in Surrey, my friends husband usually drives us but like all of us is getting older and it's too far now for a day trip but Malvern is one of the best shows.
I too like Chiford and maybe will make it to the Autumn show.
I hope you get to the FOQ, are you very far from it?

Hi Kathy,
I made a TQS badge for last years Festival of Quilts ( the biggest show we have in the UK) but it was only about 1 1/2inches square maybe I need to make a bigger one and attach it to my bag.
I hope the weather is better with you in California, it has been pouring with rain here for two days, lots of flooding around the UK

Wendy, I am just back from IQFOI and I have been trying to catch up on all the posts on the forum and the member blogs. (There's a lot of reading there!). I will probably do a blog on it in a few days. I took so many photos on the first morning that I ran out of space on my memory chip so I decided to spend a couple of minutes deleting the blurred or bad ones. Because I was deleting so manyops: my camera decided that I actually wanted to delete the lot so it kindly did it for me - and then the battery died! I had not brought a charger with me because usually the battery lasts for a few days. I guess deleting all those photos used up the battery quicker. I was devastated. But then along came a Knightess in shining armour (Lotti) and she gave me a memory stick with almost all the photos she took over the few days - isn't that just brilliant

What a star she is. I haven't discovered the blogs yet, that sounds like another adventure- I could be gone a while
Anne you need a big badge and stick it on your forehead then I won't miss you. I'm going thursday and will gladly meet up for a coffee, compare purchases and gossip. I'll email you my mobile no nearer the time if you like. I'm not stopping for the evening events but perhaps some of the other british forumers will be.
Anne what did your badge look like?

You'll find the member blogs under the "Features" tab. Just click "Features" then "Member Blogs". And, yes, you'll spend a lot of time there, both now to catch up and in the future to keep up. And, hopefully, you'll spend some time writing your own blog so we can get to know you better!!

And Wendy, you will find a printout of the TQS logo on the projects page. Here's a link. learn/projects/
I don't know if you have found the projects page yet either but there is lots of interesting stuff there too!

Hi Wendy,
I would love to meet up with you at FOQ I am going on the Thursday and Friday.
I hope to get there quite early as it taken quite a long time for the queue to get into the venue.
I WON'T be wearing a large TQS logo on my forehead though, but hopefully there will be one somewhere on my person.
Looking forward to meeting you

Great look forward to that.
I found the blogs, but I am going to have to take a deep breath first before starting one. It was traumatic putting my photo on here and not hiding behind a picture of a pet  . It's a really good idea and am enjoying reading them and Nancy I will do it.
Thanks for the info about the badge Rita. There is so much on the projects page and some smashing projects, I need never sew again just keep reading patterns

I refuse at the moment to get sucked into the big black hole called 'Blogs'. I'm already spending too much time on the computer, and I do have to sleep a little now and then.
I'm at FoQ for the full duration, but will be very busy on Friday and Saturday. Just let me know where and when you want to meet me closer to the time and I'll try to make it. I'm quite easy to recognise (I'm the one on the left in my profile picture). I won't be wearing the 'flying saucer', but I'll carry my TQS tote bag and a big smile. From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

HM Revenue and Customs
Buying fabric from America
Just a 'Heads up'
As far as I can tell the amount you were allowed to have paid for items purchased outwith the EU, before you had to pay VAT was £18. Today I found out that it is now £15.
Ask me how I know this??
Today I collected a parcel from the PO because I had duties to pay. I always keep my purchase price below £18 but this time I was charged £3.69 customs and £8 for the Post Office collection of the duty. I actually don't mind paying the Tax but I don't like paying the Post Office £8 ($12.53).
So I looked up HMRC to find out why I had been charged VAT and noticed that you are now only allowed to import goods to the value of £15.
I am writing this here because I remember some time ago a TQS member emailing me privately about this but now cannot remember who it was.
My bargain sale fabric, lovely tho it is is not such a bargain now.
