Cathy, I wasn't talking about any festival. I know it is quite easy to get shuttles from the airport to a hotel as we have been to Houston a few times but I was talking about La Veta which is a long way away from any airport.Originally posted by lorraMaureen, you could take a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, and I think they have shuttles going to the festival from the different hotels close to the convention center. There are also taxis. Or maybe one of the locals TQS members would drive you around. Driving in the USA is about like driving in France. Still the wrong side of the road for you.

The others are taking their husbands, so we'll be hiring car(s) and the guys can do a lot of the driving. I'm used to drive on the continent of Europe so I'm game for giving it a go. I think we will be considering either Denver or Colorado Springs as airports. Any advice gratefully received, collated and filed away for when the serious planning starts.

Thanks, Nancy! I'll put you back on my listOriginally posted by rehakHi Heather -
I was also on your list. For me, too, you can take your time. I'm hoping to get back started on mug rugs next week, but will need to check my list, too, since I had several in front of you.
Welcome back to the states!

Maureen, I realize that now. It is Friday and my old brain isn't working to good. Actually, I was just going over a show catalog and was thinking about a trip to the Houston festival. As far as LaVeta goes. The traffic shouldn't be bad after you get out of the city. The interstate is right by the Denver airport (Unless they moved it. I haven't been to Denver in 30 years). I have been to Colorado several times in the last few years and it was no problem to drive.

I'm not sure if I can give much advice since I don't go down to Denver or further south very often (it's been 5 years or so since I've been in Colorado Springs) and have never been in any of the other airports. I would pick my airport based on the flight schedules. If you have to go through Denver to get to Colorado Springs, then I would drive if you have anything over an hour of a layover (it takes about 1.5 hours to drive from the Denver airport to Colorado Springs). The drive from the airport to Colorado Springs is all freeway and I would imagine it wouldn't be terrible except at rush hour. There's also an airport in Pueblo that you might want to check in case that would be more convenient for you. I've never been to that airport, either, but it's worth looking at if you want to reduce your drive.Originally posted by LorchenThe others are taking their husbands, so we'll be hiring car(s) and the guys can do a lot of the driving. As I go to Denver at least once a month and on to Colo Springs fairly frequently, let me weigh in on this.
Traffic from the airport to Colorado Springs will be fairly heavy at any time -- worse in rush hour of course,
but seldom very good. It will be less expensive to fly into Denver because that's a major hub; the roads are
all good and you shouldn't have any trouble.

Thanks Judy. That's good to know. It'll be interesting to see what cost will be like when the flights are available for booking. It's too early right now. I'll keep you all in the loop.
Right now I'm so excited that I have to stop myself from starting to pack.

Hello Mug Ruggers...
When I sent my 2013 smilebox of quilts to my son he asked me what a mug rug was. I explained it to him. Then I thought, maybe he should see a mug rug! I had this money fabric I had bought for him. (He's a CPA, Financial Planner, money guy). What best to put on the money fabric than a dollar sign? I think he'll get a kick out of it. If nothing else, it will be a "coaster" no one else will have!
Miss you guys....
