Lorchen, Your grandmother's work is absolutely stunning. It's incredibly beautiful. I haven't been getting mug rug notices nor is it coming up when I check new posts. I've checked everyday and I am just now reading posts from 10/19. It's surprising I haven't been having symptoms of withdrawal.Originally posted by LorchenJane, I do all embroidery by hand. One of my grandmother's taught me when I was about 6 or 7, much to the disgust of my mother, who thought needlework was a total waste of time. I'm very grateful to my grandmother. She was a very stern lady who must have found it very difficult that her only grandchild was a little tomboy with quite a lot of attitude. But every time I pick up needle and thread, it's thanks to her patience and perseverance. Her needlework was so much superior to anything I'm able to do. Just have a look at a piece of Hardanger work she made when she was just a teenager. My father's family was part Danish, and so the Scandinavian influence comes through.

I have to admit that I used to teach Elizabethan Blackwork about 30 years ago or so. I really need to get out some of my work and take pictures....... Well, I'll surely get around to that when I eventually retire.
Beautiful Mug Rugs everyone.

I am so excited, thank you, Lorchen!Originally posted by LorchenFirst come, first served! Jane and Renata, the little guys are yours, and will get posted sometime next week. I have told them to behave themselves when they get to you.
I don't have anything decorative for the holiday season--that is why I am furiously working on the Holiday Lights quilt now that I know how to put a quilt together. I will totally enjoy your Twisted Christmas mug rug!

This is sorta a mug rug. Thought I might post it here.
I learned yesterday that friends lost their baby girl at 22 weeks gestation. They named her Aisling which is Gaelic for the vision or the dream. My heart aches for them.
So I made a simple little quilt and will send it to them. It's 11' x 7". I just felt every baby needs a quilt. I hope it eases some of the pain for these two kids.

Take care my friends,

Geneva, they will treasure that. What a precious, thoughtful gift you've given them. I made a remembrance mini-quilt for my aunt when she lost her son a few years ago; it touched her deeply. I know your dear friends will absolutely love that someone thought of their sweet baby and made them a tangible memorial gift. You are an absolute dear. (((hugs & prayers))) for your friends.Originally posted by genevacarrollThis is sorta a mug rug. Thought I might post it here.
