    Marilyn,
What I did was take it at night with only one light shining down onto the mug rug laying flat. Last time it was during the day with light from the windows and over the block so I think the color got washed out. But am very happy with this one for sure; the fabric is so pretty I wanted everyone to see what a wonderful dying job you did.

Jane...it sure worked !! I think you should submit it to show and tell with a little explanation on
photography....I can try to remove mine !!Yours is much clearer.

Marilyn--that DOES look like orange sherbet! Glad another picture was taken.
And Geneva--another pretty muggie from you.
All week I have been in a class of moderately handicapped students. Very long and sometimes stressful week. Anyway, today during art class we learned about "pop art". After seeing the art--I have to say that what we are doing here is definitely art--hold your heads high ladies! So, I left work today--glad to be done for the week; picked up my paycheck and found out I received a raise--woohoo! Now I make a little more than minimum wage. And, came home to find a mug rug--I am a happy girl.
This beauty came from Nancy. The fabric looks like it might be a satin of some kind(Nancy, could you tell us what you used?). It has columbines and glitz and you would not believe the quilting. You folks who get mine don't get the spectacular quilting that others do--sorry. The distance between the lines of stitching are 1/8" or less.

        Thank you Nancy.

            Hi Ritzy -

I'm glad you like it! The fabric is dupioni silk. I love how it quilts up!

Nancy--what thread did you use with the silk? It is wonderful! I want to grow up to quilt like that.

                            Hi Ritzy -

The heavier blue thread is FilTec Glide. The background quilting is done with Superior's Kimono silk. In both cases, matching thread in bobbin.

Glad you like the mug rug Jane. Norma, no I don't paint fabrics. I paint watercolor pictures of quilts on paper, but not fabric.

I'm embarrassed to even say this, but the fabric used for Jane's mug rug is leftover batik fabric I used for the backing of my "All Roads Lead Home" quilt I made in 1994 for Kaye England's book "Voices of the Past Volume 1." ( I actually had to go dig out the quilt to remember the name and date! Maybe I've made too many quilts! ha! Never!) In any case, the backing has pastel colors with lovely gold flecks on it and when I thought about making a mug rug for Jane, that fabric came to mind. I still have quite a bit of it! Maybe I should start a scrap quilt like Rita did with some of the batiks I have. I have so many!

Even though I came late to the mug rug craze, I am thoroughly enjoying making them. After making Ritzy's and Jane's it cracked open my "I can't do this attitude" and I've got the "I can do this attitude!" I had a wonderful weekend last working on a Jean Wells inspired quilt that turned out better than I hoped. Now, to quilt it!

Thank you ladies and gentlemen for the friendship, fun and encouragement.

Oh, my gosh! So much happens when you are off the Forum for a week. More beautiful mug rugs from Marilyn, Vicki,Jane, Maureen, Norma, Geneva, and Nancy. Ritzy is absolutely right! This is most definitely art -- of the highest quality!
