I've been enjoying all the postings but am just getting back to HSTs. I stopped by my favorite LQS and picked out border fabrics today. Now for the big decision - the sequence for the borders. Should the blue be the inner or middle border? Any suggestions welcome!

I like it as the center border.

I also like the blue as the center border. The values are too close between the solid red and the print so you couldn't really tell if you went to all the trouble to add another border!!
BTW...I really like the neutral line of HSTs at the outer edge!

I'm questioning whether you even need the red border. I like the blue next to the quilt, and the blue next to the border brings out the blue in the border flowers. And, ditto what Margo said about the neutral line of HSTs at the outer border! Very cool!

Very pretty. Maybe you could use the red for the binding.

I'd go for the blue in central spot. Very nice quilt - you're well on your way. Good for you!

I vote for using the red as binding. Your quilt is beautiful

Ooh Wendy those are pretty and vote all 3 w/blue in the middle although It wouldn't make me mad if you just use the 2 because the blue does work well in both spots. So pretty!

Trying this one more time, I posted on the completed HST thread by mistake.
Here is what I have so far, hope to get it all sewn together by the end of this week. Inspired by Edita's basket quilt in her book and meal time at my grandmoms house- always a fresh bowl of fruit brought out before we left the table. I wanted to do a fruit bowl and have the layout have a secondary geometric design.

Well, I am finally ready to start pressing and removing the papers from all my triangles! I have a pattern in mind to make but I'll need to use all my 288 SOTT triangles plus my 128 Batik triangles. Oh, and I will have to cut 565 neutral squares too!!

Has anyone had any trouble randomly combining the regular fabric triangles with the batik fabric triangles in their quilt? I am thinking of starching the regular triangles as I press them to help them not stretch as they are sewn together with the less stretchy batiks.

And also, any opinion about whether the neutral squares should be batik or not?

                            Thanks for your input!

                            Michelle

EDIT: I have started to press open my triangles and I now see that many of the SOTT triangles are actually made with part batik and part regular fabric. So, I guess that answers my question about combining them! LOL

Michelle, go with the starch idea -it really makes things easier, I would starch the batiks as well, but you don't need to to so overboard that you stick the fabrics together with starch, because while yes they don't move when you are cutting them apart, but then trying to open them up is another matter entirely ops:
