        Your quilt is incredible, Rosemary! Congratulations on a job very well done. I hope you have fun quilting it and then post some close-ups pics for us to enjoy. The blog was very interesting. I sure would like to visit the Cottage shop and see all those beautiful quilts up close & personal.

                Rosemary--your quilt is beautiful. I love the design. I had never heard of Welsh quilting but the patterns look beautiful.

                  There are two main traditional styles of quilting in UK, Welsh & North Country (also called Durham quilting). I reckon if I use the Welsh style as my basis for the quilting I won't have to worry so much about lining up the not so square squares! 8)

                  And before anyone asks what is the 'North Country' style is like you can go here http://lilian-hedley-quilter.com/index.htm to see the difference.

                  I took a day course with Lilian Hedley some years ago and learnt that the traditional way to draw feathers is to use either an old english 'penny' which is 1 1/4" in diameter, or for the smaller feathers, a 'ha-p'ny' (1/2 penny) which is 1" diameter for the rounded ends and then you join them up to spine the same way as Alex does. The good thing with drawing the traditional designs is that you don't need compasses (or circle drawing thingies) you just go and find a coin or cup or plate that is about the right size and draw around that!

                    Rosemary, what wonderful web sites you have shared with us on quilting techniques. I found just the perfect design for the center squares of my in-progress friendship triangle quilt. THANK YOU!!

                      Dear Sisters;

                      I completed my quilt top from the exchange, yeha! Now I will have to layer it & get the quilting done. I never would have attempted such a project without all of you :lol: Thank you all sew much for your posts of encouragement & support! I think I now really “get” the value issue; I would put it together a bit differently if I did it again, but each one is a learning process ops: Thanks again Sisters & I can’t wait to see the rest of the quilts!!

                      Love your sister

                          It is looking good there Barbara, it is interesting when we are faced with constraints, it forces us to think a bit harder about what we are up to.

                            OOOH! I love the close up! Because, like Rosemary said, I spotted one of mine! As I said on another Forum, I love the batik that you chose for your main border! Nicely done!

                              Thanks Dawn & Rosemary;

                              I put the close up to see if anyone wanted to see that their HST’s were included in the quilt. I am now trying to figure out a way of putting every participating sisters name on the back of the quilt. :lol: :lol:
