Ladies, I wanted to share that another set of SoTTs has met. As it turns out, Romira and I met in Raleigh, NC several weeks back because of this exchange. Her son and his family live in Raleigh and while she was visiting, we had the great opportunity to meet over tea and cookies. I didn't have the foresight to have a photo made to share. I wish I'd thought of that! I'd have loved to have a photo of the two of us as well as sharing with you. We'll have another chance sometime, I'm pretty sure - right Romira? It was a happy day in Raleigh!
Also, if you generous ladies haven't read the latest e-mail newsletter from TQS or seen it on the daily blog, there is an address out there to send money or supplies to the quilters in Joplin where all the tornadoes demolished their town. I'm planning to help in some way and as I've already seen with this group, I'm sure there are other generous quilters who will be glad to send some supplies or money. I'd be glad to coordinate this, but I think the information on TQS is pretty clear and there is a contact for us to send money to. I just wanted to remind everyone to read it and think about it.
Have a happy day

Good morning everyone! I just love reading all the posts evey day or so. Shirley and Maryjo, I love the photo. What fun to meet a Sister! And Peggy, I just love your quilt. I was planning to make the medallion quilt on the cover of Edyta's book. Then Margo started trouble with her delicious quilt and now I'm so confused. What a terrible decision to have to make!

Hello All,
I almost have my HST quilt "insides" done. Started out to make the medallion but without the instructions I laid it all out square and not on point. I decided it was good enough. I like it. Anyway it is almost put together but those little buggers are hard to get matched up perfectly. I am sure it is me. I have some peaks cut off and a couple with space above. I am debating whether to take those apart or not. I will decide when I go back to my sewing room and look again. I will probably take them apart as I will be posting for everyone to see.
Oh and Margo.....I am practicing my quilting and it is better. Not great but improving. I just need to go onto something bigger to see if I can get good stitches on a regular quilt. You are right, it does make a difference.

And it's timely that I'm downsizing, so will have lots to send to the quilt group in Joplin.

Great tutorial, Margo. I got a lot of practice with HST when I made the Stars for a New Day BOM. It does just take practice.

Peg, if you just break down the blocks you can see that Peggy's quilt can be made with 42 blocks containing 4 solid squares and 12 HSTs with all of the darker triangles pointing towards the solid blocks.

Because our HSTs finish at 2" x 2" each block will be 8" x 8" and the layout that Peggy did finishes at 56" x 48"

Hello Ladies,
I found this design in Edytas book: Friendship Triangles. This is the Constellation Throw on page 57. I let my husband select the design he liked best from this book, and this is the one he chose.
In studying the design I discovered that it consists of 42 16 patch squares, all of which are exactly alike, but simply rotated 90, 180 and 270 degrees.
I received mostly colored (as opposed to neutral) HSTs.To make this design it was necessary to have distinct value change, so I made a bunch of neutral HSTs; some with less contrast - (They are not as nice as the ones I received, bc there isn't as much variety .) To get the light / dark contrast in the overall design, the neutral HSTs are placed on one diagonal, and the colored HSTs on the other. I stitched them all together and pressed them exactly the same - planning ahead for seam nesting and ease of assembly. Hahahaha! Everything went along swimmingly until the final assembly of rows. For some reason, the seams did not nest on every other row. I made a little snip in the seam allowance of the offending HSTs and then the seams nested nicely and final assembly was easy.
Sadly there were a couple of really pretty HST that were a smidgen too small, so I wasn't able to use them. So sorry to who ever made them. They will be included in the quilt, however... stay tuned!
Best to all
