I am really happy about what I am reading. i will throw my fat quarters of Batiks in the was so they are cikir fast, usually it id the dark blue and dark purple and dark reds.
I found four wonderful creams in my local fabric shop. I will probably do four sheets, one with each cream. also depends on the number of participants. I can see and feel the enthusiasm building. Take care all, Sandy in NY

In the UK 'Bat' can also be short for 'Battle axe' - a formidable mature lady, who rules the roost.
(if you have ever seen 'Last of the Summer Wine' from the BBC, (excerpts available on youtube) most of the ladies there would qualify.
I personally wouldn't claim I was 'mature' enough, but I expect the primary kids at school probably think so.
Rosemary (trying to be an immature SoTTt and Bat in Britain)

Would love to do the batkis with you Ritzy. I will get busy on them. I will pull my cream batiks and med/darks. Will look lovely when done. I am not sure how many will do, have to look at my fabric stash and see how many have to spare for this as well as the main exchange. Have you made it a certain amount? I am not up to 700 at this time, I am not sure how many you need to make a lap size quilt. Anyone know? I have not bought the book yet.

Ok ladies and gents, i got the papers and the book and the gorgeous batiks in todays mail. :-) )))))))))))) How exciting is that!
The medalion quilt which is 59" square says it needs420 half square triangles.
The Mountain top is approx79 x 94 quick read I think is about 720 . Ice cream Sundae Wall Hanging takes about 56 triangles. Don't quote me on this, Ijust did a quick scan of the book and enjoyed tha beautiful quilts. I love my fabric and it is going in the gentle cycle of my machine tomorrow and will go with the four fat quarters of cream batiks I bought yesterday. Can not wait to get started.

Will we be using the paypal system as suggested in the other exchange group? I am wondering how postage will work for those of us outside the U.S.
AND
I assume that we will also cut the triangles but NOT press them open or remove the paper before sending them....please confirm
thanks!

While there is not a minimum to send we are up to 41 members and if you want everyone to have one of yours you would need to make that many. I am going to wait until Feb. 7th to decide how many I am going to do--I would like to make sure that each person has at least a couple from me.Originally posted by magnusMargo or Ritzy,
Is there a minimum number of HST's we are to sew and send?

Well, I really don't know anything about Paypal so maybe Debbie or Clara can let you know how that will work and if it is something we can do. I do not have paypal and I think someone volunteered theirs.Originally posted by magnusWill we be using the paypal system as suggested in the other exchange group? Hi Ritzi,
Had a quick question. I was washing and ironing fabric tonight getting ready to cut it to make HST's. I noticed that some of my lights were not batiks but hand dyed. I guess I seem to lump them together because that is how they are at the quilt shops. Are hand dyed's OK for the light side? If it is not that is OK.
Thanks,
Teresa
