Hello All, Here is my kaleidoscope "center" (which is an actual picture) and a rendition of the quilt I've drawn up in EQ8. I'm still playing with the top/bottom borders and I need to find some more of the background fabric, which may prove difficult but I like how it's coming along. I plan on using the leftover cuts and strata to make the flying geese blocks so many will have more than one color.

What is so interesting is that I'm no longer a "traditional" quilter but the use of solids drove me in that direction. Quilts do sometimes tell us "what's next". .

Note, the bottom is cut off in the uploaded pic

Mendy, Thanks for showing how you used EQ8 to audition the borders. I like the flying geese in a square in a square corners.

**Squeek** I have the center all together! Now to decide on borders…

I made this kool kaleidoscope 60" square and free motion quilted a different feather in each wedge. What fun to see the reveal. Thanks for teaching this, Ricky.
Barbara B. I didn't realize that each strata could be different colors. Ricky's looked the same. I love having the range of colors. I think I will do mind like that. Each Strata has an identical strata underneath it right using the same color fabric?
Yes, pairs of strata are exactly the same. But the sets of strata are different from each other. The sets may have one or two fabrics in common but each set is different from the others.

I am really happy with my quilt top! Ricky was right even though I wasn't overly pleased with it when I had completed the Kaleidoscope it wasn't until I put the Butt & Wedgies on and the border really brought it all together

It’s very nice how your outer border blends with the inner border. Pretty one!

Finished the top complete with borders. Now to back and sandwich. I enjoyed this process and have learned a lot - a more varied use of my colours would have been better. Also, I like the look of others' quilts who used narrower pieces. Thanks again Ricky - I will do this again one day.

I was aiming for something like your colour scheme, it's cohesive in a way that I like.

Looks great! I love the colors

All assembled, ready for quilting. I think I’ll find a place for this in my sewing room.

I made this 60" square and added funky shapes in the outer corners. I added some black and white in the outer sections with the rest in all Kaffee Fassett fabrics. I free motion different feathers in each wedge. (Sorry for a bad picture) Thanks Ricky for such a fun technique!

I ended up adding a flange of light color because I cut my outer border (from older Laurel Burch fabric that matches wonderfully) before adding the inner border. but I like the effect!

My finished kaleidoscope. Thanks to Ricky's class and a great teacher!
I added Swarovski crystals to several areas (not sure if these show in the photos).
Gold metallic fabric for the inner border. A fun project!

KarenK, I am so glad that when I click on your photos they zoom the details. Yes I can see the crystals. I can tell you put so much thought on how each quilt design would compliment the template
section. What a wonderful, wonderful quilt. HelenW
