The top is complete now, with borders. I am so glad I took this class. Thank you Ricky Tims !
The background looks black but it is a dark green.

Suedevore, Love the color palette! Makes for a stunning kaleidoscope. The pieced border along with the multiple other borders really sets it off. HelenW

      This is beautiful.

I started with 16” square. Added a three inch border to float my design and used some simple pieces for corner. I loved the process made so much easier with Ricky’s explicit directions. Finished at 38” square.

Very active to me! Love the jagged yellow-perfect!

Completed the quilting. Discovered part way through that one section was back to front. A little diligent fixing and now all looking the same. Working on ideas for the next one.

My top is done, because of the orange color that looks like lava and the small stripes in the corners that looks like sparks, I think it looks like a volcano. so I am calling it Eruption.

Jacqueline D. I absolutely love your color choices! Did you use indigos?

I’m finally laying out a border design & trying to use some extra wedges. I’ll appliqué the small blocks onto the border pieces before I attach the border. Ricky is right, the border takes creativity & time. I’m so happy I attempted this technique, thank you all for helping me learn. I think a good title is Kaleido-Krazee

Midnight33, your border really looks like it’s an extension of the kaleidoscope center.

My Kaleidoscope quilt is finished! For the back I used scraps. I used Sharon Schamber's basting method of rolling the top and back onto trim boards. For basting, I used the herringbone stitch with Superior's Vanish water soluble thread. It disappeared immediately when I soaked the finished quilt in water. I still got a few puckers on the back when I quilted it but not serious. I quilted it with concentric circles for the center part and simple lines outward for parts of the outer border.

Annette, Did you QITD or baste along the wedges before doing your circles? It looks fabulous!

Annette, Thank you for describing the process you used. I am going to have to go back and google Sharon Schamber's basting method. I have always used her binding method. The circles look great and the back is very creative and looks great. HelenW

Thanks for your kind comments. Sharon Schamber's basting video is on Youtube.

Here is my almost complete top. I still have to sew the borders on. They are just on the design wall now. It took forever to make the pieced border. I am so afraid of the Y seams of the mitered border and hope it all comes together

My Blooming Kaleidoscope with Ricky Tims couching on flowers. Progress on edge stitching the applique is taking way more
time than making the Kaleidoscope. When this is done, and before Christmas I am hoping to make a Christmas colors kaleidoscope surrounded by Christmas applique. Having sew much fun!!! HelenW

LaVonne R. Love the way your deep dark colors ended up. Did you put piping around the edges of template sections or is that
just really narrow strips in your strata? The colors pallete is perfect. Love the background fabric. HelenW
