I really enjoyed the process. I used
leftover strata for the borders in addition to the black and some
individual fillers. Quilting time!

Would love to know how you are going to quilt it! That is my next step!

and the top is done... This whole process scared me. But I did it. Thank you Ricky. I laughed when you said that some of us would think the parts were ugly, and that we needed to trust the process. I did think all those things. I am glad I did this. Now on to the quilting.

Your borders are awesome! I am definitely making my strata extra wide next time so I have something left to play with.

Just finished my top. I call it Pine Meadow Kaleidoscope. The mitered corners gave me trouble, but here it is. I also convinced my sister to make one. Thank you Ricky!

Wow! This is wonderful! I love how you expanded beyond the kaleidoscope with kaleidoscopic flowers, and scrolling vines!

I LOVE everything about this "kool" project. THANK YOU Ricky Timms, TQS, and Forum Wrangler Barbara Black! I received my warm kit on July 31st, and couldn't be happier with the results. So appreciate hints and tips from all forum participants, excellent instructional videos from Sir Timms, and the TQS team behind the scenes that make it all a happen.

Beautiful outcome Terri,
i also bought a warm kit , it was similar to yours, and love that we both have "original" designs. I especially like your zinger black and white. Cheers!

I completely forgot to take photos of my progress on this challenge. Sorry folks. But I am happy to say it is completed after many struggles and a lot of unpicking. That is all behind me now as I have my Kaleidoscope Quilt, thank you Ricky. I am a happy bunny.

My completed top. I wanted the kaleidoscope to be the focus so went for a border that framed. Completing this has given me ideas for another one. Now just to quilt this one. Thanks for the great lessons. Enjoyed the process. Right up my alley.

Finally finished to the point of adding borders. For the butts and wedgies I decided to use the same fabric that I had used at the bottom of one wedge. I like the result that the blue points seem to float. Thank you, Ricky for your detailed excellent instruction and tips. You are a genius with math. I have some rippling so will probably do a plain border. Next time I will do better!

My progress so far sewn together. Now need to add bright pink narrow border and design the outer border

Comment

I made a 15" wedge and used some of the too many batik jellyroll strips I already had with a couple of other batiks thrown in.

Because those strips are only 2 1/2" wide and I only had one strip of each, I was a little limited in widths I could cut from one strip.

Once I got it on the design wall, I didn't like the last two sections so made 2 more strata and cut them from those. Much better.

It was such an interesting technique, it makes me want to make a bunch more. However......

Now to quilt it. Not my favorite part.

Thanks for the class, Ricky.

It looks like it's woven, very nice! Good idea to have the second strata (from the middle) at an acute angle, I like it a lot.
