Working on a special label for my “12 Days of Covid” Kool Kaleidoscope quilt.
Margo, Your quilt is so special. You could do a 12 days of covid like 12 days of Christmas. On my first Day of Covid I felt....
Your sons own little story on the back of the quilt. You could have him write it out for the 12 days and end with how thankfull to
be healthy again.Just use photo fabric transfer for the writing Just an idea. Always fun to make it whimsical when in reality it was so scary. HelenW

Finished my center for the kaleidoscope. Plan to put a ring around it and do some applique in the background fabric. Any ideas
on color of ring that would look good??? HelenW

repeat the orange that you used in the star...complimentary of the blue

Here is as far as I got. I am away for a week and will finish upon return. For me the most difficult part was the center.

I chose to do a simple border to calm the quilt down. It’s been quite a learning process. Thanks Ricky for providing this class and your expertise.

I had such fun completing the top of my kaleidoscope. I have used mainly Australian Aboriginal fabrics with a few almost solids and a stripe to break up the design. I had a bit of fun with the borders. It is very, very busy but I do like it. Now to work out how to quilt it.

When I decided to take this class, I chose to use a variety of fabrics from my stash. I have poppies blooming, Ghastlies sewing, turtles swimming, (there are also subtle tractors and barns!!) and threw in some grunge dots and stars, other prints, and batiks. I am totally thrilled with the results and now with borders on, I'm ready to layer and quilt. I'm already thinking about my next one - Christmas fabrics, maybe?? Yes, I'm hooked! Between this and the Gridified Class (piano playing girl) I have had great fun in my chaotic life!

Quilted! Now for the binding and hanging sleeve. I used a wool batt, which has made it a bit puffy. I'm regretting it a little bit for a wall hanging, but it looks good on the floor! Fingers crossed that it will hang nicely on the wall.

I absolutely love the color combinations and the fabric pattern choices you have made, especially the velvet. This quilt is astounding; a real keepsake for someone special.

Susan, Love the puffy batting. I have friends that has used double batting , one wool, and one cotton on a Dream Big
wall hanging. She put a hanging sleeve on the top and on the bottom. On the bottom she put rebar that she wrapped in
Duck Tape in the sleeve. The weight pulls the wall hanging down making it hang beautifully. Your Kaleidoscope is fabulous. I am still
playing audition a whole lot of stuff on mine. HelenW

Love the tip to add some weight to the bottom. Just in time! I'm doing sleeves today. Thank you so much! And I LOVE the pieces you're playing with. Can't wait to see yours finished. Susan

At first I had black butts but it was too much black, I took it apart and added more strata and like it so much better. Thanks Ricky, Loved the process. Back to color my world.
