Andree, your photos got me motivated and I got half of my units finished today, and the graph paper worked GREAT for the strippy middles!

I made the conscious decision to change the orientation and value placement of my triangle units which makes all of my triangle points line up with the seams of the strippy middle sections instead of falling in the middle of the stripes. It was really easy to line everything up with only one pin at each point and I'm pleased with how they are turning out!

You've helped us so much on this project already! I'm glad I could help you! That graph paper really takes the "guessing" out of the way.

Margo, I did not read all of your post, but I noticed your triangles did line up with the strips. When I looked back at the original, they did not, but fell in the middle. It was only when I returned to your post, did I read that was a conscious decision on your part. Either way, they look good as long as they are consistent. I have all the smaller triangle strips complete, but not the center strips. I like the idea of using graph paper, so will try that. However, I have to take a break for the next 10 days to visit a brand new granddaughter born last week. Hope I can finish before next month's installment is posted.

Margo your strips look great. I finally got the rest of mine finished last night as well as the rest of month 1 sashing strips. Now I just have to remove all the papers. :roll:

Thanks so much for the congratulations. I've been sewing like crazy for the last 4 months preparing for her arrival. Two baby quilts (using the modern quilting techniques which is so new to me), crib sheets, burp pads, grocery cart cover, diaper bag, bibs, window treatments , dust ruffle, etc. It was a labor of love and now I get to see it all in the nursery. They live about 1000 miles away from our FL home, but I will see her a lot in the summer months since we are snowbirds.

I am an Accuquilt junky. There is no help, just keep the dies coming. Today on the Accuquilt site, there are limited time only multiple-cut circle dies. Is there any way to find out how big the finished size of all those tiny circles are in the border?

I just want to say that the way we do our machine applique using a fusible edging, I am not sure that AccuQuilt would work? I am writing the directions to use the technique like this- draw the pattern on paper-backed fusible web, cut a little bigger than the pattern line and 1/4" on inside, fuse to back of fabric, then cut on pattern line. Those making the BOM don't have to use our technique and then they can possibly use AccuQuilt. I am also drawing the exact patterns for each month as I go.. Anyway here are the sizes of the circles I have used on the block and the four borders. These are the finished size of the circles using a circle template (there are a lot of circles!):
9/16"
1/2"
13/16"
3/4"
7/8"
11/16"
1 3/8"
1 1/2"

My advice would be to wait until the exact pattern comes out on the Quilt Show for the applique months to get these sizes..

Circles...omg, do we really think we can be so specific :roll: :roll: :shock: ? And we thought triangles were challenging. Step-by-step, inch-by-inch, or 3/8" by 3/8". Accuquilt won't be much help here.

it's the 9/11/13/16ths that has made me go very quiet. :shock: Oh well, we will have to cross that bridge when we come to it. Or maybe I will just do my own version instead....only time will tell. 8)

Susan, that reminds me of one of those "Murphy's Laws" relating to precision. It's one that me my dear father loved to quote: Measure with a micrometer; mark with chalk; cut with an axe! Hopefully we won't all be reaching for axes before the Two of Us is done!

BTW, I remember reading in Pat Holly's bio that she was an electron microscope technician in her past. Maybe the micrometer is not so far off base! :shock:
