Susan, I followed Margo's excellent video on freezer paper piecing. Today instead of folding the paper back And trimming to 1/4". I trimmed to 1/8" to save some work. I was using my straight stitch foot and it worked just fine.

I know I have been MIA a bit but real life does take over. I have finally finished my Jan portion. Like every other quilt I have made, it's a learning process. Margo and Annis sure have taught me a lot including all those that have replied to my original post. I thank TQS for sending the additional fabrics. Having said that, I really would like to say a bit about that. The fabric we received was based on the pattern directions (some were a little short after washing) I chose to paper piece the portion - which does make a lot of waste. Margo ever the trooper taught us how to save some fabric with templates -THANKS! I also felt that if I chose to do that, it was my problem to fix, should I run short of fabric. Thanks to TQS for stepping up and sending additional fabric but in the long run, if I ran out, oh my - I would have to buy more fabric and if I couldn't find the same, I'd certainly think of it as a time to stretch my skills and use it as a design opportunity and go with plan B. So a big THANK YOU to TQS for fixing our problem.

                        Here are my pieces.

I have also read lots of hints for February and did my practice piece last night so as to not waste anything.

Still snowing here in NH so it will be a quilting kind of day. Off my high horse now and onto coffee and studio time.

Started part 2 of this last night. Used the 1 3/4 measure to cut my strips as suggested. Gave me enough wiggle room to not struggle when I piecing. Here's how I cut them. Used the template glued to plastic. Marked with a frixon pen then used the ruler and rotary cutter to cut. Each strip gives me 32 pieces and a one big enough for the 1/2 at the end. The frixon pen will disappear when pressed with a hot iron. Generally this is in the seam allowance anyway so it's not a big deal.

                              I stack 3 strips at a time so that's 6 layers. That's all I'll do at once.

                              Thanks for looking. Keep sewing!
