thank you ladies - you are all so fabulous.

i have the ruler, rosemary - but there the problem is again that i have to look what i'm doing... the add-a-quarter have this great indentation that you push up to the fabric - so much quicker than "lining" things up.

but margo - of course - hits the nail on the head - how could it be any other way.
and best of all: I ALREADY HAVE THE CUTTING EDGE! the package is right there in my sewing stuff - waiting to be fixed to a ruler

this is perfect - THANK YOU!

Margo, thank you all your great videos and quick responses to our comments! I'm almost finished with this months sashings, bit will try the freezer paper method for next month.. My local quilt shop has 8.5x11 freezer paper ready for my printer. I might just splurge and save myself some prep work.

Hey Margo, I reckon that you could use the Cutting edge strips to make your own Add-a-quarter or eighth ruler as well

Just been looking for their availability in UK and found them here http://www.creativegrids.com/acatalog/info_TCE001.html and since the strips are 3/8" wide, I can have a go at cutting one down to give me the the 1/4" & 1/8" for the add-a bit rulers (I also have a retired 6" x 12" ruler - the markings have all but gone - that I could get DH to cut in two for a couple of dedicated rulers for the job too, at half the price and re-cycling something I already have. )

              That could work.

I went back and watched episode 602 with Carole Doak. Her tips were wonderful and worth watching. The best tip I got was about joining sections. She suggested that you machine baste and check if your points match, saved me a lot of time picking out stitches.

speaking of joining sections, are ya'll blocking each strip before sewing to the center strip, as suggested in the Month 1 directions? Dang, I thought I was almost done month one but maybe not.

Susan, if you paper-pieced your units they should be exactly the right size when you trim the cutting edge before you remove the paper.
                    No blocking necessary!

Thanks, Margo. That's what I thought, but figured I'd better check. I also figured that if the middle strips are cut properly, we make sure the pieced strips fit.
