Steven, I have used manilla folders, cardboard, thick wash away stabilizers for circles. I cut it out of the back after sewing like you did but with the smaller circles that's a difficult job. Presently I run a sheet of freezer paper thru the copy machine because I can't even trace a good circle. Then I iron another sheet of freezer paper on it to make it double thickness and it holds the shape really well when I draw the basting thread up. I sew about 3/4 around the circle and then wiggle the paper out and that's been working a little better than cutting the little ones from the back. But I think I'm going to buy those mylar circles and try that sometime soon.

8) WOO HOO
, I'm finally back on board after a rather busy summer and got my Aug block posted 2nite. I decided the BRITES were going to be too brite for me to look at everyday, so back to the stash to start over again, but I will go backwards til they are all caught up. I have all the templates drawn on freezer paper for each month which gives me a good jump start before Sept comes flying in. Sew . . . with DH keeping busy on the road trucking until my dad's wedding on Sept 27th, I will keep busy catching up on the BOM while also doing some garment and heirloom sewing.
TTFN & Happy Quilting & Sewing,
Linda

Oooo, Linda, GREAT block (I'm going to have to search for different adjectives  ). Love the color you used for your flowers (I'm sorry, Sue, they just don't look like roses to me). And your pieced background is terrific! In the spirit of the Olympics, I would give this one a solid 10!
Maggie in E. Central Illinois, hoping for rain (didn't get much yesterday) but hoping it hold off until after our local Farmer's Market and Sweetcorn festival. Also, don't want it to rain in Springfield on Mr. Obama's parade.Happy Quilting,

Thanks for all the kind comments. Reading all the posts the past months and seeing everyones beautiful and unique ways of birthing each months designs has given me the push to continue and see this project thru. Well, off to take the last bath towel from the embroidery unit and get the gift wrapped, then onto the wedding at 4pm.

In all my excitement about the ability to post 12 quilts, I forgot to say that I've finished and posted my August block... that's what took me to my profile page in the first place!
I also have all 8 so far, and am thinking I'll need to do more with the brighter pinks and hope that I can come up with an arrangement for all 12 that balances the blocks w/ and w/o large stars as well as the lighter and darker pinks that seem to have happened! I'm trying not to use any one fabric twice, except the background stars... need to keep adding to my stash!
I've picked out potentials for September so I'm ready and waiting... Florence
