Sandy, I totally love your block! Your dark colors for the flowers remind me of dark colored lillies! How did you make the larger baby's breath stems? They appear to be twisted chenille stems  !

Maggie in E. Central Illinois, looking to have a totally gorgeous day, and I get to play this afternoon with my godson (4) and his sister (6). Life doesn't get better!

Did everyone see Linda and Ritzy's blocks featured in the TQS newsletter today? I am so proud and honored to be a member of this fine group of quilters and artists!

Sandy. Love your block. The dark flowers are beautiful! Your stems are intriguing. Look almost textural............?????

I don't know yet how I will quilt. I may regret adding the beads now, but like a 2 year old, I didn't want to wait to put them on! :?

Kathy & Lynn - Thanks for your answers on the quilting question. I, too, would like to finish my blocks and see how they look, but guess I'll just wait.

I did some experimenting with my stitches after watching Jane Sossaman.. The bottom of the stems were made using stitch #104 on my Bernina 440 and adjusting the width. The top portion was the stem stitch, #48, and I made it narrower and longer. I used one of the King Tut threads. I had tried two different sizes of Pearl Cotton but felt that was too heavy. Up close, the stem stitch looks like it has "stickers" on it

            Thanks for your nice comments.

Ritzy, congratulations on your block being featured in the newsletter.

Sandy, your stems turned out wonderful, they're very textured. Love um. Your blocks look great all together.

Sandy, your block is great; I especially like the fabric of your flowers.

I started adding my crystals last night. I too like to see things finished, which is why I typically don't have UFOs. I'm adding the crystals to areas where I don't plan on there being any quilting. I probably should have waited to attach them; but when they arrived, I was like a kid on Christmas morning.

I found my beads and added them to my August block. Check out the blog and you can see close-up. A new picture is also on my profile.

Maggie, Judy & Linda thanks for your nice comments on my BOM.

Ritzy - love your blocks. Your machine stitched blocks with the black backgounds are just stunning!

I am almost finished my block ...hopefully by tomorrow...I will wait and sew on beads after I get them quilted. I haven't worked with beads before and found some that I couldn't get past the eye of the needle. Is there a special needle that is needed or all small beads not even? Nan F

I uploaded my August BOM, needle turn block. I used the embroidery feature on my Bernina 640 to to the flower in the vase. I used stem stitch and French knots for the babies breath flowers. This was a fun and easy block. Bring on September.
