Margo, I love your neutral quilt! I think the quilt would be beautiful in Ricky's fabric, too. I'm not going to start either quilt right now--I just have too much going, but will download the pattern for the pieced quilt for future reference. Judy in Torrance
P.S. Sue, you've once again designed some beautiful quilts!

To see more pictures, please check out the new BOM SHOW & TELL link. It is located at the bottom of the drop-down menu under BOM.
I've added some that shows Sue's quilting on her original quilts, and it it gorgeous!

Sue, I'm more an applique person than an star person, but this quilt hooked me -- and hooked my husband too because he helped me decide which color scheme to use! Thanks, Margo, for all your inspiration! Just last night, I ordered bright yellow fabric for my background, then today I saw your neutral quilt -- Wow!! It's stunning!!

            Margo,

I am learning how to use the forum and how to view posts. I cannot see the 3 posts relating to the 2 white 5-1/2 squares. Have they been deleted?

            Just interested.

Lou, jgshrop had started a separate post for that question. To find the original, go to Forum Home, Block of the Month, Star Crazy and you will see the post titled: Month 1 blocks

              or you can click here:
              forum/index

Also....when you first get to the forum, there is a link at the top right of the page that says "view your posts". It should show up there if you click that link! Welcome to the forum!

BTW...for what it's worth, the BOM forums are a little confusing right now with 2 projects going on. We all need to get used to the new format.

                  Dear Margo,

Thanks for your explanation. It does take a little getting used to moving between the various pages. I am already becoming familiar with things.

Episode 601 (with Jinny Beyer) is wonderful! At the beginning of the episode Alex and Ricky share some great tips for constructing flying geese units that are applicable to our Crazy Star blocks!

I haven't decided if I will do this BOM. I am almost finished the 2009 one (hopefully I'll get it finished today) - and I have a couple of projects I need to get done before I could start it. So I probably will - but I won't be starting it in January.

I'm planning on making a queen size quilt so I've been trying to plan what my quilt will look like. I'm thinking of adding another row to the middle. Do you think it would be more balanced if I added two rows?
                            Thanks

Michelle, if you only add one row (two star blocks/three Irish Chain blocks) the end would look really off balanced. You would probably like the look better if you add two rows; an additional 5 star blocks and 5 Irish Chains plus all the extra border pieces.

Margo, I have just looked at your tutorials, they are full of good ideas. Thanks! I like the way you apply your starch and let it dry overnight. I go back and forth about whether to starch or not to starch. As a novice quilter the starch helps me keep control of the fabric but I worry about leaving the starch in the scraps. Do you leave it in or wash it out? I'm concerned about little critters being attracted to the starch or having permanent creases if I throw the scraps into the bin (I'm not exactly neat). Thanks for any insight you may have.
