I can't wait to do this BOM!!!! It is going to be fun learning needle turn applique. Thanks Margo and Sue for all your hard work on providing us with these wonderful patterns and instructions. Still finishing up on my 2009 BOM but I want to take my time and have it be a show stopper. I am going to enter my 2009 BOM in the Iowa State Fair this coming 2011. I hope it inspires lots of Iowa quilters to become members of TQS and join in all the fun we are having!!!! I just wish I had more time to work on my projects so they could be completed sooner. There is this little thing called "work" that keeps getting in the way :? . I squeeze every little second I can out of a day to get a little sewing done. Looking forward to the new 2011 BOM!!!!!

I can say, without any hesitation, that this quilt speaks to my soul. I'm going to be doing a scrappy version so I can shop my stash, but I have to make this quilt.
Margo, believe me, if I could afford a kit-I'd get one with Elly's fabrics in it for sure. I did notice that you changed up some of the baskets; it looks like some are pieced and some are one piece of fabric. Am I right?

Eileen, all of the baskets are paper pieced, but there are several different layouts. For six of the months next year, we will be making 4 basket blocks to be assembled in November, and every month the lay-outs are different!
However...you probably know by now that I have a real hard time following directions, so some of mine aren't exactly like Sue's lay outs.
My lay-outs follow her patterns, but my colors are changed up a bit.
That's the beauty of this BOM, it's so easy to personalize it and make it how YOU want it!

Margo, with every photo you post the quilt becomes more beautiful. I absolutely love Elly's fabric combination and looking forward to making a start on Beloved Beauties. Am so glad you are so closely involved in the forum. It is a big help. I love the idea of having several ways to do a quilt or part/s of a quilt in relation to hand vs machine applique, paper piecing, etc.
I am also going to have a try at doing Sue's quilt in her chosen colours (substituted with bits and pieces from my stash and new purchases. The colours are way outside my comfort zone but they have been growing on me and as I am not getting any younger I decided to step outside my 'CZ' and play in (what will be for me), a new colour world ... lol.
A big thank you to TQS for this absolutely amazing website providing the best of education in all forms of patchwork and sewing. Pamela

Margo, your quilt is absolutely gorgeous! I loved it in Houston and love it even more now :-) I am with Betweens and would like to see more applique, so I like your suggestion about the baskets. Or maybe I will just take it to that point and stop. I haven't decided yet. But it is so much fun to be working on the BOM with everyone else and see everyone's progress. So I guess I'm still trying to decide if I'm participating or not.

Margo, when I did Stars for a New Day, I really didn't enjoy paper piecing all those little tiny squares. And I thought when that quilt was done - NEVER AGAIN! I am wondering about maybe appliquing vines and flowers there? I think if I just get started and get that far, I'll come up with something. Because I really want to do that outer border and learn that technique. I am leaning towards doing this scrappy.
