Where do you find the Introduction PDF file? It would be nice to know how much fabric the quilt requires.

I have a question about printing out the patterns. I KNOW how to paper piece, and don't need to practice it, but I still don't know how to get the pattern to print out the exact right size. I have printed out Page 6 (with the 1" box on it) several times. I was able to get the 1" box to come out perfect BUT the pattern next to the 1" box with the little house on it is not the right size. I think it is supposed to measure 4 1/2". It is too small. If the 1" box is right, but the pattern is not -- what do I do next?

Joy, please check for me to see if your 1" test square isn't just a little shy of a full inch.

We were having some scaling issues with this year's BOM, and I know that Sue has corrected all of the paper pieced foundations for the BOM, but apparently she didn't adjust the little house practice page. Unless you need to print the house out at 4-1/2", just consider it a practice page. The rest will scale correctly if you follow Sue's directions and select "none" or "no scaling" before you print it out.

BTW....This is a great example of why you need to be accurate with your measuring, your cutting, your sewing and your pressing. See how quickly that little bit gets magnified! Imagine how much off a whole quilt would be if every block was off just that 1/16th of a inch!!

Pam, the directions create a finished top that measures 89-3/4" square.

I'm so glad to hear, that the one inch square print out too small. I was nearly screaming, when I found out. I just bought a new expensive printer because my old printer did different scaling lengthwise and crosswise, not much but enough to disturb a perfect block. I am making some teaching material and didn't want it to be inaccurate.
After some testing, I decided there must be something wrong with the pdf-file, because the printer does everything else absolutely correct.

Are there fabric requirements for Elly's fabrics?

I am so glad that the fabric requirements were provided early because I plan to take advantage of the after-Thanksgiving fabric sales to get some of the fabrics I need for this project.

Reminder: The pages of the (8.5" x 11") mutual fund prospectus booklets that you receive in the mail are perfect for paper-piecing. The pages are made of a very thin, but sturdy paper--similar to onion skin. I prefer it to regular printer paper for paper-piecing. Without changing any of my HP inkjet printer setting, I easily printed paper-piece patterns on them which tear very easily from the fabric. There are usually many blank pages in the front and back of the booklet. However, after rubbing a white Kleenex over a page with text to ensure that the print wouldn't rub off onto my fabric, I tested printing on one of the pages with text all over it and it worked great too. So, I now have lots of free paper-piecing paper.

Marilyn, the yardages required for the Elly version total the same as the original version, but I haven't gotten permission from John yet to post them. I had to make some changes because the Beloved Beauties fabrics have prints that worked better in some places than others and I had to switch some numbers around.

Yes. Both kits have 25 1/4 yds of fabric and will be $249 less 5% ($12.45) for Star Members. Shipping in the US will be about $13-$15.

OK, Bomettes! I've gotten the pieced basket border attached on the Beloved Beauties, and thought you might like to see how it's coming! If you click on this photo you can see it a little closer!

That's beautiful, Margo. I really like this fabric line...but still not enough to make me want to do a quilt that has this much appliqué! I know I could modify it and leave out the appliqué but I really need to take 2011 to quilt the 2010 quilt and finish a few other projects. Also, the budget would be screaming if I bought that fabric kit at this point!
