can we make our squares bigger to be able to sqare up our half swayre triangles?

How much bigger? My blog that comes out tomorrow shows I cut the HST squares 1/8” larger as I always do. That tiny bit should not impact the Kit fabrics.

      Dear Kelly,
I agree with Barbara's answer. If your HST tend to run too small, stitch on the 'inside' of the marked lines as I show in my video. You will not have to trim off much at all. --Lynn

I don't know, why I have to cut 3 strips of 8 inch WOF for fabrics C and F. I think it is easier to cut one strip of 4 inch WOF and make 2 at a time HST. This safes a lot of fabric, with 40 inch WOF I get 20 HST. Or am I so totally wrong?

It is 3 SQUARES 8” of the two fabrics for the basket centers. Lynn prefers to make 8 HST at a time so that is how she wrote her instructions.
As I noted in my Blog, this will make 24 centers and we only need 20 so that does leave 4 leftovers.
Make yours however you prefer to make them.

The LIVE for month 5 happens two hours from now, noon Central time. It will post later. My blog went up yesterday and I posted on the Forum making that announcement for those who don’t follow the blog.

It can always be found on YouTube after it airs. It has been available since last Friday May 2

The link is on The Quilt Show’s facebook page as soon as it airs. There is an issue getting it on the page for Laurel Ridge on thequiltshow.com at the moment.

At each stage of this BOM, it is suggested to press seams open. I do not like having seams pressed open so is it possible to press to one side and still have the blocks go together okay?

I know it reduces bulk to press open but is there any other reason that the seams need to be pressed open?

I am pressing most of my seams to one side. And I am assembling a lot of the top right now--no problems with assembly. Do whichever you prefer.
