Finished Month Four for both the Grandmother and Granddaughter quilts. I found this block to be really labor intensive and absolutely appreciated the wonderful diagrams that Lynn supplied and all of Barbara's great tips about measuring, measuring and measuring!!

I could’nt stand it! While it saddens me greatly to pull the very colorful fabric, I just did not see how I could have the details of the checkerboard and the stars without switching to a more subtle pattern. I can still use the colorful fabric for the outer border. I’ll add the first and second rendition photos.

That makes a big difference. It's hard to change when you're in love with a fabric, bravo!

Shared this afternoon by the quilt show that someone has already finished her quilt? How is that possible??? Do we have access to all the blocks??

I'll be gone most of May, but April is done, and I'll catch up in June. That diagram to lay out the squares was fantastic.

Instead of using triangles for the "B" fabric, I used squares (same as for fabrics C & D). The excess was trimmed when I attached the final "A" piece.

Gayle A, Great idea. I did that exact thing when I made the block in a different pattern. The
block was bigger, but it just seemed logically easier. HelenW

It does mean you will use almost twice as much fabric for the small triangles, with some going in the trash. This could be a factor for the many people using the Kits.

Completed this month’s blocks and did a little playing when I was counting to make sure I had 32. Loved the fabrics, but will need to get some more. While I love the fabrics, I was looking for a different green. I wanted to match the leaves more, but I’m sticking with this. I am really enjoying the challenge and the learning curve.

I did a redesign for a 70" finished quilt center. I only needed 28 of the modified block. Then I decided I was done and redesigned to 60" including borders. I was able to use all of the blocks I've made so far and needed 4 more HST's and the center block. I will share the finished quilt top the month we do the center block.
