I do a lot of handwork but have 2 large projects in progress so pieced blocks work. This is Double Wrench from Jinny Beyers book Patchwork Patterns. I’m mostly using fabrics my stash. I thought the plaid was important and ordered some fabrics from Lynn’s website

Helen W. Thank you so much! I didn’t use EQ or anything else. I just had a fair amount of two different fabric lines that I wanted to use. I studied Lynn’s quilt extensively and tried to follow it, with my substitutions in mind. Then I went to my stash and started pulling other fabrics. I made samples of some blocks multiple times in order to get just the right look and I did draw the center medallion on graph paper. It has been one of the most fun quilts I’ve ever made. The blocks and layout are so innovative and I love the 5” size.

Karen L. I appliquéd the heart onto the circle I already sewed down. Not seeing any problem. I use the Becky Goldsmith method of applique of needle turn.

So far center circles are done. Appliquéing the hearts onto the black circle first worked out well. I’m fairly new to needle turn and these are far from perfect but I can certainly live with it. Lorry

Great choice! A simple block that looks dressed up in your choice of fabric.

Jo Anne, I like the look of having the berries red like the heart, and using 2 fabrics for the leaves or
what they call those shapes. Looking good. HelenW

Cathy L. I love, love. love your quilt. The color palette is to die for. Excellent contrast to show secondary design. So creative with the fussy cutting for the baskets. I could look at it for hours.
Definitely will help me when my fabrics become available. Just curious. Do you make a coloring page or use EQ8 so you have something to follow, or do you just wing it. I am so impressed. I can not
sit and sew for more than 2 hours at a time. I would love to know how you can get so much done,
great quality of piecing and beautifully designed. Open to any tips you want to share. HelenW

Month 2 completed. I decided to make economy blocks. As Barbara said: make the quilt your own.

Yes, you certainly can. Start with a hunk of fabric that will be the circle. Appliqué the heart on it. Then cut the circle the appropriate size so you can appliqué it in place. This allows you to be sure the heart is right where you want it rather than askew as can happen.

I decided to digitize the design and do the appliqué using my embroidery machine. It took quite awhile of playing around but finally I like my sample block . Now to make 12 of the blocks
