Almost finished all of block 2, I used Barbara's alternate block. I hand appliqued the top piece.

Whew! Finally done with the center. I decided to use Jen Kingwell’s Nurses Cross block instead of the animal blocks I made in Month 2. I love this block as well as the petal block from Month 3. Both blocks are machine sewn using templates that I drew. The arches are appliquéd onto the background piece. I used the white and pink in my 12 center blocks so they’d coordinate with the center.

Tried both versions of block for month 3. The one on the left with pink center is all done by machine. The one on the right has hand appliqued petals. Both are challenging and time consuming. At this rate I may finish all 20 (10 of each method) by the end of the year....

I have also been experimenting with some alternate choices. if you enlarge the photo there are 2 pictures to see. They aren't quite the same idea as the pattern but it plays better with the African print and theme. The Block is called "Rolling Stone".

Monique, Love this block you picked for your African theme. It will look stunning with you other blocks. You are truly making
a quilt of your own, and I love your creativity. HelenW

I tried multiple times to make the original block 2 but nothing was working for me so went with the alternate and machine appliqued the petals. It is definitely scrappy!

Love this BOM…. It makes me think of a colorful Spring stroll with borders of blooms, bursting with petals to pick!

Well…I’m far, far behind, but it feels so good to finally get to this milestone. This has been a lot of new skills for me as I’m doing the hand piecing and doing a Lemoyne star, and on top of that, it’s my first time piecing curves. I’m looking forward to starting cutting out the next batch of fabric. I love seeing everyone else’s progress and your brilliant ideas for adaptations.

I opted to work on the outer border, so completed all 32 of those. I haven't decided on a strategy for the Month 3 block so will work on that in May. Looking forward to the log cabin blocks.

I am so excited to have finished all of my blocks for month 2and 3. My scrap containers are getting foraged and I’m truly a scrappy quilter. Plus I love bright colors. I have finished my inner groups before the log cabin blocks. And I’ve also finished the border fams(thanks to all who suggested the paper piecing!!! It was truly a time saver!
