Barbara, are there videos for each month? Where do I find on the quilt show? Or do I go to YouTube? I’m starting the BOM.

My six month 3 blocks are finished. I hand pieced one using the block instructions but hand pieced the other 5 using the tip Barbara gave of 3 large pieces. Thank you to the fellow quilter who originally shared that; it was a game changer.

I may end up moving some blocks to the outside borders but for now, I’m happy with my pink, teal and “yucky yellow” choices.

They look great to me. My favorite color combination. I'm still plugging along, so I haven't posted anything. Soon I hope!

I’ve finished machine piecing six of block #2. This block is really a challenge, but each one is an improvement over the previous one. Maybe by number 20, I’ll feel some degree of mastery over block #2. I’ve been following Sonia’s process, which Barbara outlined in her blog. Thanks, Barbara!

I completed the first blocks and now thinking about the embroidery that will be happening down the road. Being my African quilt really doesn't go with the flower theme I thought that maybe some African women around the border might be a better choice. Still experimenting with ideas. Any thoughts?

I’m enjoying your fabric choices a lot! I have a few similar fabrics but not enough for an entire quilt. What is the black solid? It looks textured. Great combo with your prints.

No Vesta, it is just a black fabric, but seems to really bring out the other colours. Thanks so much for you comment. This quilt has been a mystery for me as I seem to be the black sheep of the family. I think if I was to do this pattern again I would have chosen way different fabrics.

Monique, Love the black crescents on the 9 patch. Are you planning to cut women out of African fabrics and applique them\
to blocks? I saw a border print that might work without doing any work. The other thing I was thinking was to get a sunset
type fabric or if you are doing log cabins, make them in sunset colors and do black silhouette animals and those trademark
African trees. To me the creativity of going off in your own directions is alway wonderfully fun. HelenW

PS If you put some silhouette animals in your quilt you could make a black sheep and put your
          initials on it.

I finished my 20 month 3 blocks and put them up on my design wall amongst Jan/Feb blocks and some month 11 blocks. I am caught up now!

Not sewn together, but month 3 up on the design wall. I chose to do Barbara’s alternate block.

When looking at the Month 3 block , I did not notice the alternate block. It blends it very nicely. Great sewing!!

Did not do Block2 from the pattern, created something easier for me to handle. Thanks Helen for your help!
To me this requires more brain power than my old job, haha. You ladies rock!

Don’t know this is smart or stupid - saving fabric by wasting thread
These are the itty bitty scraps from 9 patch for Block1…

No 10 of 20 month 3 blocks just about complete. Don’t think I will get all 20 complete this month but when I think of what is left to do in months 5 to 10 I’m hoping we will have plenty of time to catch up.

I’m taking a break til 4/1 to work on another project that has been severely neglected. I substituted a completely different block this month in an effort to keep my quilt a little calmer. It still seems to be a “Jen Kingwell” quilt….but also a “my” quilt. With the pieces on the wall….I’m loving it. A few new fabrics - mostly the low volume/light colored ones - and a lot of old friends from my stash - some (many) of which I didn’t remember buying.

                This is so much fun!

Finished month 3! I did half with strip sets and half with curved pieces. I found this very difficult!
