Homeward Bound After Dark...A variation with my applique borders from Lori Smith's quilt pattern Aunt Millies Best.
Done in flannel on a black background. I was surprised how long doing Ricky Tims Twisted Chain stitch edge stitch
is taking, but I love the look. Having lots of fun with this BOM. HelenW

im drawing the vines on the border but they dont come out as far as yours...did you extend them?

The extra vine length is not attached to the four corners. It is dangling loose for now. About 9 extra inches on each end.

If you click on Renee's photo you can see the vines on the left and right borders are just pinned in place so she could get an idea how they will look. After all the borders are sewn onto the center of the quilt you will figure out where to place those left/right vines. My Month 9 blog will discuss this more.

I decided to combine Sarah’s bias tape demo with the 1/4 inch clover we bought two years ago. ( didn’t use it then!)…. I found this to work well. I love the crisp edges. I think I have the clover tape too. May try and add that to the next ‘pull’.

Update… I did add the clover tape.. I first saw Edyta do this on her site. Took a little practice but I think I’ll be pleased. I plan on machine appliqué the stems

Done with month 7, I had the bias tape all prepared which made it quicker, I love this pattern and the tips each month

Looks nice! Thank you for sharing this picture, it helps me understand sewing the corner stars on.

I can't decide if I'm going to add the circles on the tabs. It seems like the fabric is interesting enough. I think I've figured out why some of my sizes are a little off. Otherwise it is all good.

Your pastels are so pretty against the dark background!
I think my sizes are slightly off because I'm doing prepared edge applique. Just that 1 or 2 threads must make a difference overall.

Decided to add coneflowers to the border corners instead of Sawtooth stars.

Done with month 7, I decided to use buttons instead of the small circles, they will come after qulilting is done. And I am not a pigeon-fan so I want to make swallows. They match perfect to homeward bound

After I read this post a while ago, I started thinking about different birds. Probably something a little smaller & rounder. Thanks for the idea!

Judith, Love that you have the confidence and skill to draft the rest on your own. Do you
use a software program like EQ8 or do you use graph paper to get your sizes right It looks
                          great. HelenW
