Brigitte, Thank you for the quick response. I love the idea and your free motion bubbles look great.
So if I understand you correctly, you put the applique border face down on the quilted center section,
the backing fabric with the right side facing the back of the center block, stitch the 1/4 inch seam.
Then put a piece of batting in between the border/back pin and quilt. Do you leave an extra inch
or so of batting on the center and then just butt the new piece up to it, or do you trim the batting
edge to be even with the center before you stitch the applique/back on. HelenW from Idaho
USA.

Dear Helen,
you understood everything correctly. I also cut the batting right along the edge because that makes it easier to line up the fabric edges.
Kind regards,

Because I cut my strips before watching Barbara's flying geese video, I did the HST's with the help of Thangles. I finished the parts for month 6's additions to the center block and will just work on the rest of the HSTs in between other projects. I also had a set of Nifty Notions rulers where one was a perfect fit for one of the triangles in the friendship star and I just taped the paper template to the other one to make sure I trimmed to size.

Here is my month 6 completed. I am thankful that most of my triangle points and start points are intact. I used the 4 at a time flying geese- which I have tried once before for 2 inch sawtooth stars (that is tough) and found that the 4 inch was easier . I am getting the gist of it. I will have to figure out the color of my next stars-
