What a great idea you had when you experimented with the setting! I hadn't been too sure about the original setting, but this setting is really calling my name. Thank you for sharing!

            Hi Beverly,
It's lovely to hear from you, I hope you and yours are keeping well. Are you making the Patchwork Barn? I made all the blocks for the Patchwork Barn and used a pattern called Saddle Up (my friend bought it for me in Canada) for the centre, as I'm making this quilt for the daughter who keeps/rides horses. In October I made a Halloween quilt for my little Grandson, then Christmas quilts and I completely forgot about the Patchwork Barn ops: . I only usually make one machine quilt and hand quilt at a time and keep going until I finish them, so after Christmas I am looking forward to finishing this. I promise to send photos of this and my other quilts too.
Merry Christmas and all the very best for the coming year my dear friend
            Love Pam xx

Hi Pemela! Somehow I completely missed your post. I hope you and your family had a lovely Christmas! I'll look forward to your quilt pictures. This year is going to be the year of the FINISH for me - the 2014 BOM, a quilt pattern by Alex, and an Edyta Sitar quilt pattern. That ought to keep me busy for a while! I'm glad we're posting our projects on the 2019 post - that ought to keep me from veering off on a new one! I tried to PM you a week or so ago and could not get it to work - probably user error! Happy sewing! Bev

Hi Beverly, it's lovely to hear from you, Happy New Year to you and your family. I'll try to PM you to see what happens. You are going to be very busy with all those quilts Bev but you will do it. I'm finishing off putting the Patchwork Barn together - like I said I got a little bit sidetracked with Halloween and Christmas quilts but I'm back on track now. Take care my dear friend and Happy Sewing. Love Pam

Top completed. The colours are not really accurate........the blues are "bluer", not quite so "denimey-looking" and the caramel is not so yellow. Anyway, it is now off to the long-arm quilter. Thank you once again Barbara Black for all of the assistance rendered during this machine piecing journey. Having re-arranged the various blocks differently from Edyta's version, I found it quite difficult knowing which way to press seams when joining. I can clearly see now just why Barbara and various others included small sashings between the blocks. A far better idea, but too late for me to do, since I'd already cut my long strips for the needleturn applique. Just another lesson learned, which is why I embarked on this project in the first place. It's been a fun ride!

Wow, Lalzy, that yellow is a beautiful choice for the sashing. Well done.

The extra sashing started out as a way to lengthen the quilt. A very good added bonus was not having all those seams come together. Now you know.

We will be eager to see it finished.

Beautiful, Connie! I’m behind on the quilt and just doing the appliqué. Which method did you use? If you machine stitched, which stitch did you use?

Beautiful barn with details! I am eager to see the appliqué methods used by the members. I’m very behind and just appliquéing around the barn with fusible. I see you used the blanket stitch and it looks very nice, so that’s what I’ll use. I’d love to try needleturn but since I’ve not done it before I think I’ll try it on a small project for starters.

Well finally finished my top. It was a challenge and a learning experience for me. Kind of off in a few places but that's okay. Applique was taking longer than I thought. I zigzagged the applique with 100 wt thread. Invisafil was the brand. I will add it to the pile of my other quilt tops . This year I plan to finish all what I started.

Now on to the 2019 sizzle.
