Some photos of my almost completed side panel and centre block. Needleturn applique is my first love, so I decided to use this method to applique all the branches, twigs, leaves, flowers and little circles. This is taking me a bit longer than I had imagined, but I have only the remaining side panel to applique, so the end is nigh. I'm currently in the process of making another 32 little circles, using Karen Kay Buckley's "Perfect Circles", which is probably another day's work alone. It doesn't seem as though I will complete this quilt in 2018, which was my aim. I'm also working on another heavily appliqued and hand-pieced BOM, vainly attempting to complete it in 2018 as well. Oh well......on to Plan B.Marilyn

A couple of photos re my progress. Needleturn applique is my first love, so I decided to use this method for all the branches, twigs, leaves, flowers and little circles. I still have the second side panel to applique, but at least the end is nigh, even if I am running behind. Right now, I'm in the process of crafting 32 more little circles, using Karen Kay Buckley's "Perfect Circles". This will probably be a day's work in itself, I should think. I had fond hopes of finishing "The Patchwork Barn" in 2018, but that doesn't seem possible any more. In addition, I am also valiantly attempting to complete a second 2018 BOM, heavily appliqued and hand-pieced, which I also wanted to complete by year's end. Oh well...…….on to Plan B.Marilyn

re my previous post:
Four times I've attempted this post and cancelled the previous three attempts. No matter what I do, I cannot seem to invert the photos so that they appear right side up. Never had this problem before, so don't know what is wrong this time. I've even gone into my own "Pictures" file and inverted the photos there, then posted them...…….they still appear on the TQS Forum upside down. Apologies for this problem.Marilyn

brentprim, I didn't purchase the kit, as I had quite a lot of blue, caramel and grey fabrics I wanted to use. I made my own templates, using Becky Goldsmith's method with self-laminating sheets over the leaf, twig, flower patterns provided in the instructions. I applied two layers of the self-laminating plastic sheet, as that provides more stability to the little patterns. Then cut out the patterns, of course!Marilyn

I so enjoyed making this BOM. I loved making all the different blocks each month. I decided to do a different layout and a different center block. I grouped my 6 inch blocks together in groups of nine, making an 18 inch square. I made a house block for the center using Lori Holt's house pattern from her Farm Girl Vintage book. I did meander quilting over the whole quilt with my domestic Janome machine. Such a fun year making this quilt! Sorry about the photo quality; it is hard to take indoor photos in the winter.
