V block - top half size triangles too small
Has anyone noticed the top of the heart which is supposed to be made with half square triangles from 1 1/2 inch squares turns out way too small. I think the finished half square triangle needs to be 1 and 1/2 inch so I'm starting with 2" squares to make my triangle blocks and trimming to finished 1 1/2 inch square. Let me know what you found.Tags: None

I made the half square triangles for the v block and they were the correct size. Check the Instructional video about those half square triangles in the v block instructions. You are supposed to make one half square triangle from the two squares not two half square triangles. Stitch on the line that you draw diagonally from corner to corner and then cut 1/4 inch on one side of the stitch line. You end up with one half square triangle that is the correct size.

I did mine that way too, stitching down the line, and they turned out the correct size!Originally posted by Jody5I made the half square triangles for the v block and they were the correct size. There has to be a different name, other than half square triangle, for the way the two top squares were made. Lucky for me I watched Julie's video tips before getting to the letter V and saw that she did a mark through the middle and a stitch close to that mark instead of the traditional 1/4" stitching on each side.
There should be an update to the printed instructions for any one that does this later to make sure they know the instructions are not the same as described earlier in the year.
