This was so much fun but very stressful at the end. I love the finished results but it stretched me way outside of my comfort zone. I like to use a pattern, know what I am making, how the colors work together and how it should turn out. Making the 6” blocks from solids which played off of the Kaffe prints was new for me and a little uncomfortable. I used color combinations I would never have used. I was doing OK until ... we got to the finishing and I felt lost on my own. Thanks to Pines for posting some possible layouts that helped me see something that would work for me. I used one of her layouts and Alex’s idea for the outside border and then the quilt it “I’m done”. I loaded it on my longarm, quilted it with a computer generated program, bound it and love it! Thank you Alex for freely giving of your time and expertise for these YouTube live Monday, Wednesday and Friday shows. It has put something routine in my non-routine life. With all of my charity quilting meetings, American Sewing Guild meetings and local quilt guild meetings cancelled until further notice I have been quilting up a storm and getting much done. This has been a bright spot in my week and I look forward to it each M, W & F. It is set aside on my calendar and only doctor’s appointments have me watching a recorded version (or the need to watch again.). You are such a blessing. I don’t do Pink and I don’t do baskets so I am thinking about how I will work the next class ... will likely do some of the baskets but in blues. It will stretch me again.

Thank you Alex. I’ve had so much fun with this. Some of it was very challenging for me but I loved it anyway. This gave me something to look forward to these past 4 months. And thank you to John for all your hard work. I knew w you were always there too even though we couldn’t t see you. And thank you Barbara you little saint you. You’ve been so patient with us and your help navigating the Forum has certainly made life in the Forum so much easier for many of us. I love my quilt so much. My Covid quilt turned into “My Fun Quilt.” It will hang in my sewing room or years to come.

Thank you Alex for filling these past 4 months with such a fun and constructive distraction. It was wonderful having something to look forward to during this time. I had such fun even when I was swearing at a block. There were several that were $#&@@! Thank you John for all your hard work behind the scenes. And thank you Barbara you little saint you. You've been so patient and you've made navigating the Forum less stressful for many of us. I love my quilt. It will hang in my sewing room for yearJust s to come and will always remind me of this time. Just plain Thanks guys! My Covid quilt became "MY Happy Quilt." And that is it's name.

So lovely! Bravo to you for seeing it through while enduring all that uncertainty and scary 'newness'! Your result is stunning and you will have so much more confidence going forward. If I were there I would give you a big pat on the back!! You will have to be a pretzel and do it yourself!!

Border.... reminds me of the braid construction. Was it done something like that? I must study this some more. It intrigues me as Alex said too. Let me guess. You cut 2" strips (or there about) in all your colors, prints. Then cut the same width squares. On one end of the strips you do the 'flying geese' technique. Then sew all the pieces together in the manner of creating a strip of braid. Then cut it down to the length of your sides and tops. The cornerstones are a square with one snowball corner. How did I do? Thanks for providing my brain stimulation for today!! Lovely top!
