I too live in a rural area with slow Internet service and little hope of any improvement. I quit trying to watch shows some time ago. Never have liked Vimeo and the way it does/doesn't work well. Too frustrating.

I live in a rural area .... and cows do not buy internet ... there fore no cable ...... RESTRICTED INTERNET is about $ 80 / 10 GB if you want more you have to pay for it.... does not get better until they put a new satellite up to handle the demand. I will just have to get my dvds from iQUILT. It would have been nice if they had said something.

Dang it ! Anna...I'm so sorry that "they" didn't respect their loyal viewers enough to tell us about this change.
They don't seem to care much....not enough to say "sorry". Shame ! It will cost them more than they know.

I let my membership go for quite a while because I felt the TQS staff just didn't care what we the members liked or didn't like, beginning with the new website and all the issues that still have not been fixed. When I went to Houston for my first and probably last Houston Quilt show I met John in the hotel and told him I was surprised there was no TQS booth and the TQS BOM by Sue Garman was not there. I was truly disappointed! He told me that Ricky and Alex were just too busy with their own business interests! I renewed simply to do Sue's BOM. The lady was a genius.

The reason we are no longer making the Dvd's is that they were beyond a financial loss - we have a garage full of them with no interest. It was a hard decision to make but was a natural evolution. So sorry -

Will the shows, beginning with series 1800, ever be available as downloads? I have limited internet, but I can download shows when I visit my son and have access to his unlimited internet.

Purchasing individual shows and downloading them is an awesome alternate. I hope TQS will consider it.

I'm sorry to say All, but we will not be producing anymore of the Series on DVD. Unfortunately, the demand for the DVD format has significantly dropped off, like rock-bottom since we started TQS. Like all things, 8-tracks, cassettes, CD's, etc....the DVD is being phased out as a format and is something we can't continue to produce. We struggled with the decision and didn't come by it lightly, but was one of those business decisions we had to make. NO, this is not the end of TQS as some may have mentioned below, it was simply and economics decision to help us stay viable. Thanks to all for your continued support as we move forward with the ever-changing technology to keep bringing you the best on the quilting web.

Maybe you should try selling the DVDs you have in the garage on AMAZON. I just bought a bunch of DVDs from STASH BOOKS, iQuilt, Interweave and other publications from them.... I think they have 133 different DVDs listed. A lot of small businesses have gone that route for the bigger exposure. Won't do much to get new DVDs but maybe you won't be stuck with a garage full of DVDs.

If and when I get better internet I will be back .... but unless I get better satellite service for a better cost I can not stay up at night to watch.... impact on my health was too much.... The service provider says it is coming... we will see.

I have only just come across this topic, because the site is so much slower to use since the 'update' a few years ago, and my time is limited. I have decent and fast broadband but have still bought every available DVD series. I fully understand that some decisions depend on cost, but I don't have to like it. I keep hearing about all the 'great things' that are in the pipeline. I hope that they are all going to be user-friendly.

Thanks for your comment Lorchen. Contrary to some posts on this thread, we really DO care what our Star Members and basic members think. That is sort of what has happened to our site. Over the years, as we have grown, we have tried to be all things for all people. In trying to satisfy everyone, we have made additions and changes to the site, some of which worked and obviously some of which have not. The 'Great Things" that are in the pipeline is that we have hired a new company who is taking this behemoth of a website and is re-working the entire thing to make it more user friendly, faster, and better than ever. This is no small task for sure! Think of it as a 3-story building that has foundation issues caused by settling and has to be moved to a location where firmer ground exists to support the structure Because of the amount of content that exists, this is a brick by brick, stick by stick sort of endeavor and one we hope will erase the concerns of our membership and allow for easier delivery of our shows as well. As for as not continueing the DVD series, it was simply an immense expense on our end for very little return. Just like any household, we had to make a very hard decision which we knew would be an unpopular one for some, but boiled down to economics. As I stated in my previous post, the DVD format is being phased-out as technology advances, just like the 8-track, cassett, etc...Thanks for the comments, we are listening and we are striving to improve everyday even if you're not seeing the results on your screen right now.

Justin and the entire TQS Team,
I want to thank you all for doing such a great job. I know that sometimes things go awry and because we (the members) have been so well taken care of in the past, we get upset. It's because we've been spoiled. In this time in technology things move faster than we ever dreamed they could, and yet we get put out if something isn't fixed immediately, or sooner! I do believe that we all, myself included, need to count to 10 and think about what's really going on. This isn't a heart surgeon strolling to the emergency room, it's a part of our lives that is meant for enjoyment. If we slow down and spend a little time appreciating what we have, and letting you folks now when something isn't working, we'll all have lowered our blood pressure a point or two.
I haven't been a member as long as some of the others on TQS. I have been very active on several different threads, actually started a few of them. Seeing all the wonderful shows that are provided and being able to view them at any time of the day is a most remarkable thing. I remember when I was 10, no TV in our house, the neighbors had one and we would go watch Lawrence Welk at their house. Then when I was about 20 I spent some time in Germany and TV did not 'come on' until after 5pm where we were. Looking back and comparing what we have now, at a time convenient to us, we are very blessed.
The people that don't have good internet access, now those folks I feel their pain. If you're enjoying something and the dialup goes on the fritz, you may loose your place and can't get back to it for a day or two. And yes, there are places right here in the US that don't get good reception. Most of us have chosen where we live, and that may be a price that has to be paid to live in a beautiful part of the country.
You will never be able to make everyone happy with every decision that is made. That's the tough side of business, you just have to continue to move forward and do what appears to be the best at the time. When you are able to look back on something and perhaps realize that it wasn't the best choice, your next thought should be, 'what was the "takeaway' from the situation?" Often times what we learn is what we needed to learn to be better in the upcoming situation that we haven't encountered yet.
Keep up the good work you've been doing. Have a blessed day.

I, too, watched the DVDs instead of trying to watch on my computer. Was series 1800 ever put on DVD? My last one was series 1700 and I'd love to have 1800 if it's out there. I would also be willing to pre-pay for a series on DVD. I've missed out on all the recent series waiting for the DVDs to come out. I've been a member since the first day and I hate the thought of not seeing the wonderful shows. Please come up with a way that I can purchase copies of the shows!
