Beverley I love your Cathedral Stars quilt. This one is already on my to-do list. Love your colours.

Thanks, everyone. This one is a mix of soft seashell pinks and aquas (my favorite beach colors), a combination of batiks and cotton prints Edyta Sitar's style. It was so easy - it's just two different blocks. I plan to make more as graduation presents for two nephews about to graduate in June, 2014 in guy colors.

Thanks, Connie. I plan to start them right after Thanksgiving.

I was looking at my posts at the beginning of this thread. Boy, did I have big dreams! Those drawers full of PHD's I was going to start quilting this year are all still PHD's except for one. I did finish the binding on 2 small quilts that just needed hand sewn to the back, and have the binding sewn to another 2 larger quilts, ready to hand sew to the back. And I did complete 2 new quilts. Now I'm trying to get my numbers finished for my Block of the Week that has been put on hold most of this year. It will start back up in January. The blocks are now pieced. I just have to photograph them so I can crop the outer seam allowance and try to remember how to add them to my web page. While making these blocks I was thinking about a setting for the alphabet and number blocks. I wanted to keep it simple, but simple doesn't seem to be in my vocabulary. So now I need 8 more blocks, 2 rows of border blocks, and 71 setting blocks which will be strip-pieced using 2 fabrics. After adding additional borders this will make a twin size quilt. It won't be near as fancy as the 2014 BOM but it is as close as I will get to making it since I absolutely cannot add any more projects right now. I think maybe I need to sign up for the January retreat so I can finish this quilt. And now it's time to pack away the fall decor and see what I can do to add a little Christmas to my in town home. All of my decorations are at my country home still in boxes and they are not coming back. I did keep a skinny tree here and I can shop my store for a few decorations. And maybe Hobby Lobby has something on sale to dress up the mantel.

              Great numbers, Annis!

Beverly, the quilt is lovely! I'd like to snuggle up under that one with a good book!

Thanks, Sue. That's exactly what I plan to do with it!! Beverly

Beverly, your Cathedral Stars is beautiful! I'm doing Bonnie's Celtic Solstice mystery quilt this year and am having a great time!

Annis, you certainly know how to make simple into complicate  . I hope you get it all done.

I think we should start a What will you finish first in 2014. I still have my Ruffled Roses to finish. Haven't touched it this year.
But the others on my list are finished.

Norma, I agree about a new thread for 2014. But first I've got to clean Christmas making clutter from my sewing room. Then I need to unearth my UFO's not to mention other important things that are currently hiding from me.

I'm going to clean up some clutter too. Just finished the presents half an hour ago, but the room could be in worse condition :P
Lois, thanks for your kind words on my email. I tried to answer but it came back undeliverable. I know you read this thread and will see this.

I sat down and made a listing of my UFO's this week in order to see where to focus in 2014, discovered I had more than I thought. My first projects for 2014 will be the binding on 7 quilts that are just sitting there unfinished, didn't realize I had 7 until I started picking things up. 2 of those came back from the longarmer (is that a word??) a good 5 months ago.

Last night, I just started re-reading this thread. It made for some fascinating reading and remembrance. What a year! I agree, one for 2014 would be interesting!

In anticipation of a busy holiday sewing season, I organized all my fabric this fall. I found this "pop up" storage system and filled it up (see attached pic of partially completed project). I love being able to fan through my fabric to see what I have and what I need. It was working great and saving me lots of time. I don't know what I did when to reach maximum capacity, but last night I walked into my sewing room to find a collapsed storage system and yardage on the floor! I will spend the last part of 2013 clearing a path to my machine so I can finish several projects!
