Lovely quilt, amazing quilting, I adore the border, but then I seem to have a thing about ogee patterns.

Here's my first quilt to be pulled out of the stops in 2013. I made the blocks in a Craftsy class with Pepper Cory and after seeing the show with Jacquie Guering I decided to have a go at just quilting using my walking foot on the serpentine stitch. There is so much detail in the blocks that any quilting becomes invisible so this worked out really well. It is a single bed size and it's new home will be in Dingle, Co. Kerry. I have called it 'Rubies are Forever'.

Looks great, there Rita. There is a lot to be said about keeping the quilting really simple when the piecing is busy.

          Rita,
Very nice. Like the colors. I have to agree that the simplicity of the quilting works great on this quilt.

Norma, looks like you had tons of fun with the diversity of quilt on your beautiful piece. Congratulations and the colors are so well selected!

Rita, love your scrappy quilt, looks like some of Christine Barnes' color lessons may be in it... it truly sparkles!

Love that red !! Well done ! Straight line quilting isn't always as easy as it looks !

Rita, your quilt is stunningly beautiful! Kudos on completing a large project (anything larger than a wall hanging is enormous to me!)

Here's my first 2013 completion. Made in a class with Susan Edmonson. The coneflower is painted with wax pastels, then the details are stitched. Great fun!

I love seeing everyone's finished projects. They are all so beautiful and are a great motivation to get quilts finished. I say keep the pictures coming.

Lovely cone flower and I like your border too, Connie. (I also think I have the same fabric as your border... is it perhaps Mandarin Dynasty Style by Hoffman?)

Rita, your quilt is beautiful! One question, what color/type thread did you use for the quilting in the top and bobbin?

                          Comment

Connie your cone flower quilt is beautiful! How wonderful to be able to do that. But I must ask you are wax pastels the same as oil pastels? Are they soft or hard? I ask because my father uses soft oil pastels in his work and they blend beautifully so I am wondering if these are the same. Also, do you do anything to them to make them permanent or is that just not a worry with a wall quilt?

Thanks for the kind comments about my quilt everybody. I should probably have done a lot more lines to be more 'modern' but I used cotton batting and I was worried about it becoming stiff as a board.

Nanapie, I used two different variegated pink threads on the top (Wonderfil and Sulky) - and a variegated red (also Wonderfil)in the bobbin because the back of the quilt is red with black spots. I was amazed at how much thread it used. I had thought that 500mtrs of Wonderfil would be enough but I had to find an alternative which was the Sulky because we can't get the Wonderfil here except at the big show in November.

Fabulous work Connie, Rita & Norma.

Norma do you have a long arm or is it done on a domestic machine? I need lessons a a whole lot practice!

Connie and Rita, love your works.
My quilt is quilted on a Bernina 440QE, the thread used is King Tut in different colors. Same in bobbin.
