    Flower power for sure Rita. Love the placemats, the fabric and what a great idea. I'll have to make some to practice FMQ for sure, of course after I'm done whispering. Although I might try one or two to practice before I quilt "the quilt" :wink:

      rita that is great idea to use this kind of upholstery fabric (ikea's)
      i bought a lot of them when i started quilting without knowing those are far too heavy and not for quilting.
      but you gave me an idea, thanks!!

                                Thanks all. It feels good to have done it. Yes, Wendy, the border is FMQ but I marked the space to fill so I could be sure that I would fill i evenly and I made a big practice piece to teach myself how to get around. Patsy Thompson was the instructor for the border and she had some suggestions on how to practice on paper first, and so I did. It took me some time to come up with my final design and the corners took even more time, but I'm really pleased with them.
                                One of the problems with this sort of quilt is that you don't know what is coming next month. I found it difficult to decide on how dense the quilting should be in each block and because I followed along every month there was nothing else to do but quilt away the best I could
