Marilyn - I am using silk thread, I have acquired a load of old Pearsalls threads that I would rate as button hole thread weight. I do have some new silk threads that are approximately the same weight as six stranded embroidery thread (I think you refer to this as floss) I have tried a couple using fine cotton perle and although it works, I don't like it just as much as the silk. (the 8 hr one was a machine weight thread)

Terrie - no I haven't stopped quilting, but since I do nearly all my piecing & quilting by machine in the sewing room & my DH would like to have my company for at least part of the evening in the lounge, it is something I can easily do listening to the 'moving wallpaper' (which is his choice of programme anyway  ). Anyway who has time on their hands when they have a stack of phds that need working on  I mean to say, who knows what mischief I would get up to if I did have time on my hands   (actually I work better with short deadlines......which reminds me!....gotta go!)

        Back again -

Becky I am glad to hear that you are feeling better. If you remember to do Rita's recommended exercises I hope they help to alliviate some of the symptons and put off pain & surgary.

Rosemary you do make me laugh. I wonder which 'moving wallpaper' programmes your DH likes to watch - I would lay money on it that some are the same as mine. Somedays when I am in my sewing room if the doors are left open (which is most of the time ) I might have DH watching endless news channels in one room and the kids watching something dreadful like The X Factor or Big Brother in the other. A different sound for each ear.

            Hey Stereo! 8)
Not necessarily - Ice Road Truckers, Big Game Fishing, anything to do with the Military & blowing things up, Mythbusters(blowing things up), CSI & NCIS re-runs, then the news & weather. Failing that, a Ray Mears video/dvd.

Finished project #2 for the year. All it needed was the binding, label and sleeve. Finished it just in time, I have to deliver it tomorrow for the local guilds show. Hoping to put this on my bed after the show but have to figure out how to keep the dogs off the bed when I'm not looking.

                          Teresa,
It's a beautiful quilt! Love the colours and think it's amazing what a simple log cabin pattern can become. Could you just keep the door of your bedroom closed when you're not home? It's the only thing we can do with our dog.

Wonderful looking quilt, I particularly like the greek key border.

As for dogs - start getting into the habit of shutting your bedroom door all the time. It should be easier to re-train you than them  (not sure about DH's though)

Theresa, That quilt is just beautiful. Maybe it needs to go on the wall along with the ribbon! Good luck!

Theresa B that is awesome! A favor please, can you post a close up of the Greek key in the border? I love that border! It really finished the top nicely.
