When I asked what, she said, "I learned I don't like hand applique!" Try it all, and you will find out what pleases you most, and what you may never care to tackle again!

thank you, Dawn! No, I"m not afraid to try anything, because I don't know enough to be afraid, LOL!

Thank you so much for the encouragement! You are such a great group of ladies.

Heather, your quilt is wonderful and I'm glad your experience has been so good and that you plan to continue quilting! I spent three years working on my last quilt and it was machine pieced and machine quilted. I worked on it most every day. Depending on the designs and techniques we choose quilting can be an exercise in patience and perseverance. Congratulations! You have a very successful beginning of a wonderful hobby/career/obsession!

Heather! Congrats on finishing your first quilt. It looks great. I like the fact that you put your own stamp on it by using colours that you liked. GO GIRL!!!

What a terrific first quilt! Clear out a closet ~ may I suggest your husband's? He doesn't need that much space! But you will for all the great quilts in your future!

Charae & Leslie, luckily for me I have the space! It is very common here in Brazil to have a live-in housemaid, and so homes are often built with a little bedroom near the laundry room for this reason. As we do not have a live in housemaid, I have a wonderful little room with built in cabinets, counter space, shelves, drawers, even a pull-out ironing board, its own little bathroom and a nice big window. Plus a huge empty wall that I'm sure can one day be a design wall.

Luckily for my husband, Charae, he can keep his closet space

Thank you again to everyone for the very kind words of encouragement! I'm beyond lucky that my stepmom quilted it for me which I know only enhances the beauty of the quilt.

Wooo hoooo!!! Always love a first quilt, and now the addiction begins. Forever, there will be ideas, fabric, more ideas, more fabric!! I've been quilting now for 7 years... and I still have 3 projects on the go, and I'm buying fabric for 2 more..

Hand pieced - so impressed... that is on my "to do" list this year..

My dearest Heather - this just brings tears to my eyes!! You did it!! You are here on TQS!! AND you posted to the gallery!! :swoon: I'm so very proud of you! ((hugs))

This really didn't take you long... and you hand pieced it all while having 3 sons & a busy husband to care for! Sometime ago here on TQS, I think we posted our first quilts. Your 1st would shine brightly in that collection.

Carry on!! I can't wait to see how much you accomplish with some electricity behind that needle.

                  love always,
