February 2010 Health Life
You are making some headway, Karen! Good for you! But remember that you are not required to clean your plate at those luncheons!!
I lost 1.4 pounds this week!! I think that it's helped that I've had a couple of great projects to work on in the sewing room, and I NEVER eat while I'm down there! Always water....never food!
I splurged at lunch with friends today, but will get back to what has been working tomorrow, and will try to get in an extra lap or two at the mall. I sure am looking forward to warmer weather so I can get back outside for my walks!
If anyone is interested, there are lots of great tips here by Dr. Oz:

Well, considering that I was out of state all week, tempted by disgustingly rich meals and desserts; a net gain/loss of 0# is pretty good for me. Really tried to be good, but it is tempting to cheat.
I keep telling myself that eating all that stuff is cheating myself of a longer life with my husband and sons. So far it is helping.
God Bless you all on our continued journey!

I am down 12 from the beginning of the year (lost ~2 this past week). Got one workout in this week, so I am improving. Lots going on, so I am too distracted to worry much about eating..... so that helps. Still sticking to lots of raw veggies, hummus, nuts, fruit and small portions of meat.
I am traveling this coming week, so I will carry my snacks with me and hopefully I can stay on track.
Have a good week, All!

I'm still in Georgia and don't have a scale so don't know weight. Clothes are not looser so suppose that is enough to tell the story of weight.
But, I have been doing a 'radical' job of monitoring my glucose for the last 3 weeks, since receiving news that my diabetes was a mess! And I have it under control, and am committed to keeping it there. Glucose strips are not cheap, but neither is a stroke!
I'll be heading home to Houston in about 4 weeks, where the scale and my gym will once again wave at me when I pass them!
I'm still on board...with the healthy part - just not weight loss. I'm with you MK on the veggies and hummus! Baby carrots and hummus dip - a winner!

Lynn, there are a lot of ways to increase your activity level that don't involve going to the gym.
For myself, I seem to do more and better working out at the gym.
I don't know if I will keep up the pace when my son goes back to work(He is my gym partner) but I hope that I have started to see more of benefit in the mirror before that happens.

Sherry, try warming up your knee before you ride the bike. A heating pad for about 10 minutes will probably be plenty. Then after you ride, wrap an ice pack around it for 20 minutes. That should help a lot with the pain!
I do this for my shins when I increase my walking time, and it really works!

It's Friday again! I've only lost .4 pounds this week, but I know what I did wrong and will get back in the walking routine today!!
How are you doing??? Anyone else anxious for warm weather so we can get outside to walk??? The mall is BORING!!
