Finally decided on a border for my Kaleidoscope quilt. I had cut and started sewing two others but then on the design wall before attaching felt they just didn't work. Now on my third attempt, again find myself unsewing. I felt I had the border too wide so making adjustments for that. Really want to get this done by the 15th and posted. I need to some how learn to design before cutting fabrics...

Next big project is to quilt last year's TQS BOM. I have had the top done since March or so. It is layered and pinned. I have already submitted it for entry into a local quilt show (September) so now I have a deadline. I will machine quilt on my domestic.

I "lost" sewing time yesterday because I went and bought a new Bernina 830!! Woohoo! I will get it later this week. My current machine is a Elna Super I bought in 1975. (I do love my machine!) So most anything would have been an update. Can't wait to start using the new one!

        Congratulations on the 830 Lorna.

Today is a good day to work in the air conditioning. It's going to be the nasty 3 H's here in Ct. So I 'll continue on with the memory quilts by starting the humming birds and figure out what to do with these "Dated pillows".... Sorry I have to say it UGLY.
        Wish me luck Cheryl

I became fed up with the tangled mess my embellishing threads end up in so I've spent a few hours winding them all on to floss cards and putting them neatly into a box. Not quite as inspiring but certainly easier to use!

We have the carpet fitters here on Tuesday next week so knowing that everything will be coming out of the room and then back in I can't seem to settle to anything much at the moment. It's being a pain. I know things are in my head wanting to escape but I just go upstairs and fiddle, nothing constructive at all! Or just mess around on the computer which annoys me more!

I finished the hand quilting on a wholecloth Christmas quilt this week!!!!! I'm going to sew the binding on at my quilt group next Tuesday. It really felt good to FINISH something--now, back to my 100 other UFO's! Judy in Torrance

While I was at the laundromat washing the comforters from the motorhome, I started embroidering the words on my Rosary quilt.

I am starting on a round robin quilt with my sewing group. My center square is a basket was inspired from a quilt my greatgrandmother made.

BOO HOO no sewing for me... I have to go out and buy a new stove... the old one caught on fire and almost set the kitchen on fire.... lucky I was there washing dishes and saw the flames under the stove top.... I pour water from the dish pan all over the stove top....

The gas feed line to the stove top burners had a crack in it... the stupid stove is less then 10 years old... looks like a relic and has never cooked right since the day I got it.... I am NEVER BUYING A MAYTAG OF ANY APPLIANCE AGAIN.

ANY RECOMMENDATIONS ON GOOD (natural gas) STOVES.... I have been looking but they all have digital command center which I know do not work welll .... I really would like to dial back time and be able to get a NEW stove like my original stove.... that little baby cooked like a dream.

MY GF is coming in to town and she is going to show me how to machine quilt.... I am looking forward to that.

Hope you're going somewhere with finding a new stove Lady Rags! Sorry I can't help you with suggestions from over here.

Today we, and that is a royal we, went to the Wessex Quilters Guild '30 years and sew on...' exhibition in Winchester. It was a really nice show with plenty of styles over the years, one or two had a bit of a giggle factor and others quite a wow one. OH was brave enough to come in with me, it was quite quiet early on, and he was quite impressed too. I now have an idea of the type of thing he likes which is quite similar to mine, thank goodness, so now he's dropping hints again about one for our bed.

At dinner this evening we were talking about the different styles and standards and how much it's all changed in a few years and he said the most wonderful thing. He told me he thought that my work was up there with the best of what we saw today and he was very proud of me. I haven't done that much for him to see and this was his first largish showing of quilts. I guess he's just slightly biased but I was still rather flattered. ops:

I also joined up for my first Quilt Uni course today.

Now I have a date with Bob. OH is parked in front of Indiana Jones and all is at peace.

Well, I thought it is time to get back to work on the BOM border stars for this month. Have 2 done and 2 to go. I have been working on other things, getting some UFO's finished I hope? making a little progress. And also working on my eventual studio. Slow work, on this front.

I got one word embroidered today. "Believe". Boy the capital letters take a lot of time. They have a lot of curves in them. It's going to be a 13 hour day tomorrow so I should get more done.

Yeah! I finished and posted my kaleidoscope quilt yesterday. I haven't done that much ripping in a long time. I kept changing my mind on the border and binding. FINALLY made a decision. Now on to quilt my 2008 TQS BOM. Deadline is coming for the local quilt show. But grandson is visiting for the week so not sure how much quilting I will get done.

My DH said he wants a good quilt for his bed and then one for kicks... a RED Dwarf throw. This is the first time he had asked for any type of quilt so I am going to try and come up with something he would like.

I know the RED DWARF was a TV series he use to watch.... while I did other things... never saw it myself... now I have to find out what their logo is and more about it so that I can make him some kind of throw for Christmas.

This is going to be some challenge.

Should be no challenge LadyRags!! Red Dwarf has a huge following over here, (even I have the DVDs, well OH does  ) and there should be plenty on-line to figure out what to do.

We've had the combine's in the fields behind us all last week and last night they were in the fields in the front until gone 3am. Yes it's stopped raining and the crops are dry enough to bring in. I wonder what these farmers do to relax. Their life seems full of waiting one minute and then it goes manic with ploughing, sowing and harvesting and it's all reliant on Mother Nature. I have been in my sewing room until late most nights with the windows open listening to the thrum, thrum of the reapers and bailers and have found it quite therapeutic.

Today they were still at it and I was wondering what project to start next also what project to perhaps finish!! The farmer's dedication to do things now almost prompts reflection!!

Amo, what crops are they harvesting at this time in England? Our main crops here in E. Central Illinois are soybeans and corn, and they will be at least another month before harvest.
