Well, I got that baby quilt done and bound. I just did very simple quilting on it with that curved line cam, and not a lot of it, but I used the Warm N Natural batting, so it didn't have to be quilted really close. Don't know that I'll get much done tomorrow, since I have to go to the dermatologist in the afternoon--we lived 13 degrees south of the Equator for 3 years, in American Samoa, and I toasted myself in the sun regularly, so need to watch out for skin cancers. Haven't had any so far, but still need to check. After the appointment, I'll do a bit of shopping and then head to the airport to pick up my buddy Doris who's been visiting family, then back home, where DH will have supper waiting for us, bless his heart. I might be able to quilt a few lines on another twin quilt tomorrow morning, though.

Since I am feeling better, still do not know what is wrong. I did worked on almost all of the rest of my Square in a Square Sampler blocks. I have all the different pieces done on my last 13 blocks, just have to put them all together. (I did it this way because the fabric requirements on some of them was off, and one of my fabrics was going to be short, but with a little juggling, I did have enough.)

I am ready to scream... I do not know what is wrong but my fabric is bowing...
I am sewing long strips of two WOF (width of fabric) 2-1/2 inch wide strips. Yesterday my strips lined up and remained square... today they seem to bow / curve ... at first i thought this was just visual illusion but I double checked using rulers and the fabric strips are bowing...
Does anyone have any idea why?

YEAH!!!! I am now at the point where I can actually start the quilting for the baby quilt. Yesterday I went to Lowes and picked up two 5 FT. boards to use Sharon Schamber's method of basting, and spent the afternoon sandwitching. Proud momma moment when my 17 yr old son walked in and said "Oh are you sandwitching the quilt??" Now everyone knows the lingo.
I have posted a photo of the quilt top before the basting with sketches of the trapunto.
Time to shower and get started on the quilting before DD wakes up and decides to work on the stuffed elephant. Hopefully she will sleep until noon.
Have a great day. Cheryl

I posted a long tirade in Repeat Post... Bowing of fabric strips thread.. I had gotten great tips from this board and wanted to explain what I found....
I was FORCED by the weather to take the time to figure out what I did wrong as I could not do anymore sewing when the power went out. I had planned to use the strips as it was but the lack of power made me take the strips apart trying to figure out what I did wrong. GOOD LESSON learned for me.... by unsewing.
I rarely unsew as my main addage in life is:
I HAVE ONLY SO MANY YEARS LEFT TO SEW / QUILT... FINISHED IS BETTER THAN PERFECT.
So if I make a mistake I try to figure out where the mistake is then not repeat it but I truck onward and deal with the mistakes putting them together. Since I tend to float blocks on backgrounds ( if that makes sense) instead of doing traditional setting ... this allows a lot of FIXING to occur.
So my TILDA last night /TODAY was...
Unsew the bow strips and re-piece them together.
Unfortunately that might be the only quilting I do for the rest of the weekend because I have to put insulation into the attic... DH does not fit (never has) through the trap door ....so this is my job....
Just like quilting I cut the insulation to fit the area I am insulating.
Have a good one...

I was able to get some quilting done yesterday and hope to get at least a few more hours in today. DD is off to 6 flags with a friend and DS is going kayaking. So except for taking Kyle to and from the shore, I should be home in my room. Keep your fingers crossed. If I work on it every day, I should get the quilt done in time for the shower this Sunday. Wish me luck. Cheryl

I never buy kits... I do not like the idea of another quit just like mine out there somewhere... Half the fun of making a quilt is buying the fabrics... if I make a mistake in colors... OH WELL LIVE AND LEARN.
I know my GF loves buying kits and the quilt shop I LOVE organizes lots of quilts and patterns into kits... but Kay only makes one or two kits with the same exact materials..... so that is not so bad...
Have fun regardless kit or no kit just quilt !

Well I managed to get to my sewing room for about an hour last night and spent it watching football and pressing and folding more of my FQs. I need to go buy 2 more drawer units, still have at least an hour or more worth of FQs to press and fold. May get some done today, don't know for sure though.

I went to the county fair this weekend. What a humbling expierience  I went into the grange room where they display the quilts and jams along with other works of arts. Talk about realizing just how much of a novice I truely am. Then I seen this quilt that had to have had at least a thousand triangles on it that were about aninch big. they made a full/ queen quilt, unreal. It was absolutely beautiful. It definately gave me some inspiration.

A thousand triangles is a long term project. I have been working on one since I started quilting. I am using my Dear Jane triangle (8 in h x 5 in W, a lot bigger then your favorite. ) template and have been cutting out a triangle from each fabric I bring in the house. Whenever I cut out a quilt I cut out a triangle of my fabric. I then sew the colored pattern fabric to a background triangle. I store all my triangles in a box in the sewing room.
I am gradually sewing them into strips. I am using white on white for the background second triangles to off set the color triangles. The white on white is scrappy too as I buy a fat quarter of w-on-white in every store I go to.
My friends, knowing I am collecting triangles also give me scraps ( fat 1/8ths from their stash) So far my quilt will equal a small twin size quilt I am going for a queen.
I have several scrappy quilts in progress trying to use my leftover up and building a quilt over time by plugging away at the blocks. I try to either start or end each sewing session making the scrappy blocks. I find in a year I have several scrap quilts great for gifts, charity quilts or going to the cabin up north.
This was one reason I started this Tilde Thread was to keep me on task and sew a little every day.
Have a good quilting day....

Okay, yesterday, I finnished another runner, fixed the one I didn't think was right, started designing a wall hanging for a customer who really loves panels (if anyone has any ideas or knows of a place where panel lovers know where to go to get ideas of how to use them please let me know, she is taxing my creativity :? ) Cut out the quilt for the wedding gift.
Today, I think I will work on getting the rest of the runners done, (I make these for customers for xmas gifts, they are not that expensive,) then I will start the gift. Hope everyone has a good day of sewing. Debbie

 Boo Hoo!!! My baby is in the shop getting a once over. I started having little black specks show up on the backside of the baby quilt. Looks like the dirty/oily lint that I aways clean out everytime I chang bobbins. THe tech is checking for updates on my Viking quilt designer. He said there have been some problems with the oil coming up the saft and getting on the swing arm for the bobbin. IN the mean time I bought some grandma stain solution that I was told will take anything out even if it has been heat set. Of course I cant wash until the quilt is finished and I can't do that until my baby is back. I am very sad. CHeryl
